Systemic hypertension is possibly the most important modifiable risk factor for the development of cognitive decline, both for mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia. For effective blood pressure (BP) control, it requires proper assessment, using brachial, central, and ambulatory measurements, and monitoring with a focus on different BP parameters. Different BP parameters like pulse pressure, mean arterial pressure, BP variability, and circadian parameters, like nondippers and early morning surge, should be considered in the evaluation for the risk of cognitive decline due to hypertension in middle age and older adults.

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is an autosomal recessive disease caused by the deficiency of one of the enzymes involved in cortisol synthesis. Between 90% and 99% of cases of CAH are caused by 21-hydroxylase deficiency (21OHD) caused by mutations in CYP21A2. Urolithiasis is a common and recurrent condition in the urological spectrum. Despite various proposed mechanisms, the causal relationship between sleep traits and the risk of urolithiasis remains unclear. We used publicly available genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary data from the UK Biobank and FinnGen to perform a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis and genetic correlation analysis, evaluating the causal relationship and genetic correlation between sleep traits (chronotype, getting up in the morning, sleep duration, nap during the day, and insomnia) and urolithiasis (calculus of the kidney and ureter, and calculus of the lower urinary tract).
