An analytical model was developed to determine the temperature of friction coupling, in which one element was made of a functionally graded material (FGM) and the other was homogeneous. First, for such a system, the boundary-value problem of heat conduction was formulated with consideration of the heat generation due to friction. Then, using the Laplace integral transform, an exact solution to this problem was obtained for uniform sliding, and braking with constant deceleration. A numerical analysis was performed for the selected friction pair consisting of the FGM (zircon dioxide + titanium alloy) and cast iron. It was established that the use of elements made of a FGM consisting of ZrO and Ti-6Al-4V can significantly reduce the maximum temperature achieved in the friction system.

In the present in vitro study, we evaluated the adhesion of an injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) to laser-textured zirconia surfaces and their resultant friction behavior against bone tissue. Three types of zirconia surfaces were compared regarding the i-PRF coating effects: 1) grit blasted with 250-μm spherical alumina particles and acid etched with 20% hydrofluoric acid (ZLA), 2) laser textured with a random (RD) surface pattern, or 3) laser textured with a designed pattern based on 16 lines and 8 passages (L16N8). The coefficient of friction (COF) of the specimens was assessed on a reciprocating sliding pin-on-plate tribometer at 1-N normal load, 1 Hz, and a 2-mm stroke length.

Friction surfacing (FS) is a solid-state deposition process in which layers are deposited on a substrate surface by frictional heat and severe plastic deformation of a consumable stud material below its melting temperature. Bonding occurs due to accelerated diffusion. The deposition of several layers on top of each other is referred to as multi-layer FS (MLFS), a promising candidate for additive manufacturing (AM) as it offers advantages over fusion-based AM.

The exploration of pure organic ultra-long room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials has emerged as a research hotspot in recent years. Herein, a simple strategy for fabricating long-afterglow polymer aerogels with three-dimensional ordered structures and environmental monitoring capabilities is proposed. Based on the non-covalent interactions between pectin (PC) and melamine formaldehyde (MF), a composite aerogel (PCMF@phenanthrene) (PCMF@PA) doped with phosphorescent organic small molecules was constructed.

The composition of the metal-polymer friction pair is carefully considered for interacting with water and hydrogen, ensuring the metals electrode process potential remains below waters in a neutral medium. Simultaneously, adherence to defined chemical composition ratios for the metal-polymer materials is crucial. This analysis is conducted under conditions of thermal stabilization, characterized by a minimal temperature gradient across the rim thickness within an equivalent thermal field.

Welding-induced residual stress has the capacity to significantly compromise the integrity of mechanical components. Its minimization therefore plays a critical role in the selection of process parameters during the welding process. Friction stir welding is a useful joining technique to weld many materials that are not amenable to the traditional welding techniques.
