Inoculation of Bothrops jararaca snake venom (BjV) induces thrombocytopenia in humans and various animal species. Although several BjV toxins acting on hemostasis have been well characterized in vitro, it is not known which one is responsible for inducing thrombocytopenia in vivo. In previous studies, we showed that BjV incubated with metalloproteinase or serine proteinase inhibitors and/or anti-botrocetin antibodies still induced thrombocytopenia in rats and mice.

Objective: Blood component therapy has shown promising potential as an emerging treatment for dry eye disease; however, it remains unclear which specific blood component is the most effective. This study aims to compare the efficacy of different blood components in the treatment of dry eye disease through a network meta-analysis, with the goal of providing the latest and most reliable evidence for clinical practice.
Methods: We conducted a systematic search of the PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane, Embase, and Scopus databases, with the search concluding on June 1, 2024.

Greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS) is a prevalent musculoskeletal condition characterised by lateral hip pain and reduced function. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections have gained attention as a potential treatment due to their regenerative properties. However, variability in PRP preparation methods and insufficient standardisation in the literature complicate the evaluation of its efficacy and reproducibility.

Undescended testis and testicular torsion represent two frequent andrological diseases that affect the pediatric age. Despite these testicular disorders having different causes, they both negatively influence fertility in adulthood mainly due to the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which represents the primary molecular damage underlying their long-term effects. The gold standard of treatment for both pathologies is surgery; however, it cannot guarantee an optimal fertility outcome in all clinical cases, underscoring the need to identify effective adjuvant therapies that may target the augmented ROS levels.
