Objectives: Primary graft dysfunction (PGD) affects survival after lung transplant (LT). The current hypothesis was that prone positioning (PP), proposed as a rescue maneuver to treat refractory hypoxemia due to PGD, may improve LT outcomes, especially when applied early.
Design: Bilateral LT recipients developing moderate-to-severe PGD within 24 hours from intensive care unit admission were enrolled.

Background: In patients with severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), prolonged and inappropriate use of prone position ventilation (PPV) is a known risk factor for mortality. Hence, it is critical to monitor patients' response to PPV and accurately differentiate responders from non-responders at an early stage. The study aimed to investigate the relationship between oxygenation improvement after three rounds of PPV and survival rate in patients with pulmonary ARDS.

In extracorporeal circulation, inflammatory mediators are eliminated through inflammatory cytokine adsorption. By interacting with inflammatory cytokines and removing them from the bloodstream, the adsorber's adsorbent lowers levels of inflammatory mediators and the inflammatory response. We present the case of a 67-year-old Chinese man diagnosed with sepsis due to a bloodstream infection from a catheter.

Antithrombin (AT) deficiency in the extracorporeal circulation during cardiac surgery leads to uncontrolled inflammation and vascular damage in patients. AT levels decrease in sepsis, major trauma, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, and eclampsia. Monitoring plasma AT levels facilitates the accurate restoration of AT to baseline values through precise supplementation.
