• Vascular plugs used for PVL repair usually embolize late after deployment. • A low threshold for echo studies (namely TEE) is an essential part of clinical follow-up. • Redo percutaneous PVL closure should be considered in those at high surgical risk.

Management of abdominal aortic aneurysm includes reducing the incidence of endoleaks and promoting sac regression. Sac embolization has been shown to promote regression but alone may not adequately address type II endoleak risk. We present three cases with challenging anatomy and follow-up data through 12 months after treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • Transcatheter Pulmonary Flow Restrictors (TPFRs) are innovative devices for managing pulmonary blood flow in congenital heart disease, yet there is a lack of detailed studies examining their variety and crucial design features.
  • * The review consolidates current knowledge on TPFRs, highlights significant design considerations, identifies gaps in medical practice, and suggests future research avenues to improve these devices.
  • * An analysis of 82 TPFR implants revealed challenges like complications with microvascular plugs, including issues with sizing, device migration, and thrombosis, while emphasizing the need for devices that can be safely removed and reduce risks like embolization and inflammation.

Despite being anucleated cell fragments, platelets are now widely recognized for their multifaceted abilities. Not only do they form blood clots to prevent bleeding after injury, but they also fight infections and maintain vascular integrity during inflammatory diseases. While hemostatic plugs require the collective activation and aggregation of platelets, their role in protecting inflamed blood vessels is performed at the single-cell level.

Purpose: Embolisation is a widely utilised therapeutic intervention for pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM). We conducted a meta-analysis to evaluate outcomes of PAVM embolisation and factors associated with embolisation outcomes.

Methods: MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) were searched from 2000 to July 2022 on studies that assessed embolisation outcomes of PAVM.
