Background: Postoperative sore throat (POST) is a significant adverse effect after endotracheal intubation, especially with double-lumen endotracheal tubes (DLTs). Ultrasound-guided internal branch of the superior laryngeal nerve block (US-guided iSLNB) presents a potential intervention for POST. In this first randomized controlled trial to date, we aimed to investigate the effects of US-guided iSLNB, with or without perineural dexmedetomidine, on the incidence and severity of POST following DLTs.

Screening tests for disease have their performance measured through sensitivity and specificity, which inform how well the test can discriminate between those with and without the condition. Typically, high values for sensitivity and specificity are desired. These two measures of performance are unaffected by the outcome prevalence of the disease in the population.

In mental healthcare, therapists' empathy and mentalizing are associated with better opportunities to establish positive working relations with patients. The present study aimed to explore mental health nurses' level of empathy and mentalizing (compared with reference groups studying or working in different contexts), the association between mental health nurses' level of empathy and mentalizing and sociodemographic characteristics of these nurses, and the association between mental health nurses' level of empathy and mentalizing. A cross-sectional design was used in adherence with the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology statement.
