Viral particles consist essentially of a proteinaceous capsid that protects the genome and is also involved in many functions during the virus life cycle. In structurally simple viruses, the capsid consists of a number of copies of the same, or a few different proteins organized into a symmetric oligomer. Structurally complex viruses present a larger variety of components in their capsids than simple viruses.

Sporadic late-onset nemaline rod myopathy is a rare, acquired, sub-acute, adult-onset myopathy characterized by proximal muscle weakness and nemaline rods in the myofibers. In contrast to its congenital form, the prevalence in adult population is comparatively rare. Herein, we report a case of 60-year-old male who presented with insidious onset proximal muscle weakness with myopathic pattern on electromyography.

Background: Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) fillers are permanent fillers known for their possible side effects. In case of complications, the only possible treatment is surgical removal, followed by procedures to minimize resulting deformity. The aims of this study were (1) to analyse the morphology of the PMMA material in the nodules, (2) to demonstrate that treatment by acoustic wave therapy (AWT) can help the removal of the nodules, and (3) to present an easy procedure to solve deformities.

Bis(monoacylglycero)phosphate (BMP) is a major phospholipid constituent of intralumenal membranes in late endosomes/lysosomes, where it regulates the degradation and sorting of lipid cargo. Recent observations suggest that the Batten disease-associated protein CLN5 functions as lysosomal BMP synthase. Here, we show that transacylation reactions catalyzed by cytosolic and secreted enzymes enhance BMP synthesis independently of CLN5.
