The shape-persistent monomer with its three 1,8-diazaanthracene (DAA) units is spread and compressed at the air/water interface and the layer then converted into a 1.5 nm thick covalent monolayer sheet by photoirradiation under ambient conditions. The sheet obtained under these extremely mild conditions is mechanically stable to carry its own weight when spanned over TEM grids. While its molecular structure cannot be given yet with certainty, it is likely to be the result of [4 + 4]-cycloaddition dimerizations between the DAA units of neighboring monomers. Evidence is based on the wavelength of the monomer fluorescence emission, the kinetics of this emission's intensity decay with irradiation time, and the mechanical sheet stability that suggests a surpassing of percolation threshold. Finally, the thermal stability of the sheet is investigated.

(PCV2) is the main and primary causative agent of Postweaning Multisystemic Wasting Syndrome (PMWS). To date, immunoperoxidase monolayer assay (IPMA), indirect immunofluorescent assay (IFA), and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) are the most commonly diagnostic methods for detecting PCV2 antigens. However, these methods require specialized equipment and technical expertise and are suitable for laboratory use only.

The electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction reaction (CORR) is an attractive method for converting atmospheric CO into value-added chemicals and fuels. In order to overcome the low efficiency and durability that hinder its practical application, a significant amount of research has been dedicated to designing novel catalysts at the nanoscale and even the atomic scale. Two-dimensional (2D) monolayer materials inherit the merits of both 2D materials and single-atom materials.

High-performance isolation of exosomes as a promising liquid biopsy target is of great importance for both fundamental research and clinical applications. This is, however, challenged by the prevalent heterogeneity of exosomes and the highly complex nature of biosamples. Here, we introduce the use of a CD81-targeting peptide as a building block for tailoring molecular baits for exosome isolation and payload analysis in clinical biofluids.

The carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS)-based porous beads are still criticized for their limited number of binding sites, which impairs their efficacy in removing aqueous pollutants. To overcome this challenge, this work introduces the production of covalently crosslinked CMCS-based beads containing SiO and poly(2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid) (PAMPS). The porous composite beads not only possess remarkable stability under acidic conditions, but also have abundant active binding sites for adsorption.

Although various sensors specifically developed for target analytes are available, affordable biosensing solutions with broad applicability are limited. In this study, a cost-effective biosensor for detecting human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) was developed using custom-made gold leaf electrodes (GLEs). A novel strategy for antibody immobilization on a gold surface, for the first time mediated by protein L and HER2-specific antibody trastuzumab, was examined using commercial screen-printed gold electrodes and GLEs.
