Six Japanese species belonging to the genus Marshall, 1898 (Hymenoptera, Braconidae) were recorded and photographed. Three species, Belokobylskij, Schmiedeknecht and Tobias (= Luo & Chen ), are new to Japan, and a new species, is described. An identification key to the Japanese species of is also provided. In addition, new host records are provided, i.e., Chao reared from and (Alydidae) and reared from (Pentatomidae). The Alydidae is a newly recorded host family of .

The genomes of human gut bacteria in the genus Bacteroides include numerous operons for biosynthesis of diverse capsular polysaccharides (CPSs). The first two genes of each CPS operon encode a locus-specific paralog of transcription elongation factor NusG (called UpxY), which enhances transcript elongation, and a UpxZ protein that inhibits noncognate UpxYs. This process, together with promoter inversions, ensures that a single CPS operon is transcribed in most cells.

Article Synopsis
  • - An annotated checklist details 426 European Dacnusini species and 16 species from the Dapsilarthra genus group within the Alysiini (Hymenoptera: Braconidae, Alysiinae), including synonymy and classifications.
  • - The checklist presents insights like intrageneric relationships, references to species in past major revisions, host range hypotheses based on rearing evidence, and DNA barcode availability for some species.
  • - A new synonym, Chorebus luzulae Griffiths syn. nov., is established under Chorebus aphantus Marshall, while the classification of the genus Mesocrina and the inclusion of Grandia and Lodbrokia in Dacnusini remains unclear.

Type material of species belonging to the weevil tribe Celeuthetini Lacordaire, 1863 mainly from Sundaland, Sulawesi and the Lesser Sunda Islands was studied. Mitochondrial sequence data could be obtained for 27 old type specimens, providing important evidence on their systematic placement. Various taxonomic problems evident from molecular and morphological data are remedied.

The new genus Helicosina is described to include three new Neotropical species characterized by swollen hind femora, cruciate interfrontal setae, strongly flattened notum and a distinctly narrow-elongate surstylus. At least one species is associated with furled Heliconia leaves. The following new species are described: H.

Article Synopsis
  • COVID-19 patients often show abnormal immune responses and mental health issues during hospitalization, but the connection with gut microbiome has not been fully explored.
  • The study classified COVID-19 severity into three levels: low (27.4%), moderate (29.8%), and critical (42.8%), with common symptoms including fever (66.1%) and cough (55.6%), and notable rates of anxiety (27.3%) and depression (39%).
  • Findings indicate that more severe cases exhibited higher levels of systemic inflammation and reduced gut bacterial diversity, particularly in women and obese individuals, suggesting a relationship between gut health, mental health, and COVID-19 severity, pointing to the potential of using microbiome-focused treatments.
