Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the expression of endoglin and its correlation with histopathological and clinical findings in conjunctival nevi.
Methods: The study included archival formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections of 44 patients with conjunctival nevi. Immunohistochemical staining for CD105 had been performed with monoclonal mouse antihuman CD105 antibodies. The intratumoral microvessel density for quantification of tumoral vascularization had been determined by this marker.
Results: The expression of CD105 was positive in 30 (68.2%) cases. There was a statistically significant difference in the level of CD105 expression regarding the histological type of nevus (p=0.03) and intralesional cysts status (p=0.02). Spearman's rho (ρ -0.316) revealed a significant negative correlation between the expression of endoglin and the histological type of nevus (p=0.03) and between the expression of endoglin and the presence of intralesional cysts (ρ -0.380, p=0.01).
Conclusion: This study suggests that endoglin could be a useful diagnostic and prognostic marker in differentiating between benign and malignant melanocytic ocular lesions.

Objective: To study the relationship between FK506-binding protein 51 (FKBP51) and ovarian aging and/or diminished ovarian reserve (DOR) in human ovaries by comparing FKBP51 levels in granulosa (GC) and cumulus cells (CC), collected during controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) from women of advanced reproductive age and/or with a diagnosis of DOR with that of young women with normal ovarian reserve. To explore the association between increased FKBP51 expression and human ovarian aging further, expression of FKBP51 was compared in ovarian stroma of post-menopausal versus pre-menopausal women. Lastly, this relation was further queried by comparing ovarian expression of several collagen genes as markers of ovarian fibrosis in 14-month-old wild type (Fkbp5) and Fkbp5 knockout (Fkbp5) mice.

Objective: Based on our previous research, which demonstrated that elevated plasma endoglin (ENG) levels in lung cancer patients were associated with a better prognosis, increased sensitivity to pemetrexed, and enhanced tumor suppression, this study aims to validate these findings at the cellular level. The focus is on membrane and extracellular ENG and their influence on drug response and tumor cell behavior in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells.
Methods: The correlation between ENG expression and pemetrexed-induced cytotoxicity in eight human non-squamous subtype NSCLC cell lines was analyzed.

: Increased sodium chloride (NaCl) intake led to leukocyte activation and impaired vasodilatation via increased oxidative stress in human/animal models. Interestingly, subpressor doses of angiotensin II (AngII) restored endothelium-dependent vascular reactivity, which was impaired in a high-salt (HS) diet in animal models. Therefore, the present study aimed to assess the effects of AngII exposure following high salt (HS) loading on endothelial cells' (ECs') viability, activation, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production.

Transthyretin is a thyroid hormone binding protein with a major role in the distribution of thyroid hormones to peripheral tissues. In preeclampsia, the failing placenta releases soluble endoglin into the maternal circulation causing systemic vascular dysfunction. Our group has previously shown that transthyretin binds to soluble endoglin and is taken up as a complex into hepatocytes.
