Due to the increasing relevance of fluorine-containing organic molecules in drug design, the synthesis of organofluorine compounds has gained high significance in synthetic organic chemistry. Trifluoromethylative difunctionalizations of carbon-carbon multiple bonds, with the simultaneous incorporation of a CF group and another functional element, have considerable potential. Because of the high importance of carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions in organic synthesis, carbotrifluoromethylations and, in particular, aryltrifluoromethylations or heteroaryltrifluoromethylations are considered to be increasing fields of synthetic organic chemistry. The aim of the current review is to summarize recent developments of aryltrifluoromethylation or heteroaryltrifluoromethylation reactions.

Submerged plants can thrive entirely underwater, playing a crucial role in maintaining water quality, supporting aquatic organisms, and enhancing sediment stability. However, they face multiple challenges, including reduced light availability, fluctuating water conditions, and limited nutrient access. Despite these stresses, submerged plants demonstrate remarkable resilience through physiological and biochemical adaptations.

Alkynylallenes offer the varied reactivity patterns of two different multiple bond linkages either separately or in concert. Initially, a short overview of their syntheses, structures, rearrangement mechanisms and synthetic utility, especially when treated with transition metal reagents such as gold(I), silver(I), platinum metals or metal carbonyls, is presented. Subsequently, we focus on the particular case of 1,2-dien-5-ynes (propargylallenes), whereby the shortness of the single atom bridge, and the consequent proximity of the allenyl and alkynyl moieties, facilitates metal-mediated interactions between them.

Article Synopsis
  • - 3-Methylcrotonylglycinuria is a genetic metabolic disorder caused by a deficiency of 3-Methylcrotonyl-CoA carboxylase, affecting about 1 in 2400 to 1 in 6800 individuals.
  • - The condition can be asymptomatic or cause serious symptoms like fever, seizures, and altered consciousness, indicating a "metabolic crisis."
  • - This case report focuses on a 4.5-month-old male patient's presentation of 3-MCG to emphasize the need for prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Article Synopsis
  • Gamma-glutamyl carboxylase (GGCX) is crucial for modifying vitamin K-dependent proteins by adding carboxyl groups, which is essential for their functions in blood clotting and bone health.
  • Mutations in GGCX can lead to diseases such as vitamin K clotting factor deficiency and pseudoxanthoma elasticum-like diseases, but the mechanisms behind these mutations are not fully understood.
  • This chapter discusses biochemical and cellular methods used to study GGCX's function and the impact of its mutations, highlighting the need for a balanced presence of various components and methodologies to fully understand the enzyme's activity.
