Climate change impacts on precipitation characteristics will alter the hydrologic characteristics, such as peak flows, time to peak, and erosion potential of watersheds. However, many of the currently available climate change datasets are provided at temporal and spatial resolutions that are inadequate to quantify projected changes in hydrologic characteristics of a watershed. Therefore, it is critical to temporally disaggregate coarse-resolution precipitation data to finer resolutions for studies sensitive to precipitation characteristics. In this study, we generated novel 15-minute precipitation datasets from hourly precipitation datasets obtained from five NA-CORDEX downscaled climate models under RCP 8.5 scenario for the historical (1970-1999) and projected (2030-2059) years over the Southeast United States using a modified version of the stochastic method. The results showed conservation of mass of the precipitation inputs. Furthermore, the probability of zero precipitation, variance of precipitation, and maximum precipitation in the disaggregated data matched well with the observed precipitation characteristics. The generated 15-minute precipitation data can be used in all scientific studies that require precipitation data at that resolution.

Enhancing oil recovery in sandstone reservoirs, particularly through smart water flooding, is an appealing area of research that has been thoroughly documented. However, few studies have examined the formation of water-in-heavy oil emulsion because of the incompatibility between the injected water-folded ions, clay particles, and heavy fraction in the oil phase. In this study, we investigated the synergistic roles of asphaltene and clay in the smart water flooding process using a novel experimental approach.

Assessing the impact of climate change on water-related ecosystem services (ES) in Protected Areas (PAs) is essential for developing soil and water conservation strategies that promote sustainability and restore ES. However, the application of ES research in Protected Area (PA) management remains ambiguous and has notable shortcomings. This study primarily aimed to assess the SDR-InVEST (Sediment Delivery Ratio-Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Tradeoffs) model for estimating ES, including soil loss, sediment export, and sediment retention, under various climate change scenarios from 1997 to 2100 in the data-scarce region of the Bagh-e-Shadi Forest PA.

Antimony (Sb) contamination in water resources poses a critical environmental and health challenge globally. Sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) are employed to reduce SO to S for removing Sb in a microbial electrolysis cell (MEC). Yet, the reduction efficiency of reducing SO and Sb(Ⅴ) through SRB remains relatively low, and the underlying mechanism remains elusive.

Association between hydroclimatic factors and vegetation health: Impact of climate change in the past and future.

This study investigates the potential impact of future climate scenarios designated by different shared socioeconomic pathways (SSPs) on vegetation health. Considering the entire Indian mainland as the study region, which exhibits a diverse range of climate and vegetation regimes, we analysed long-term past (1981-2020) and future (2021-2100) changes in vegetation greenness across seven vegetation types and four seasons. In order to gain insight into the intricate interrelationships between vegetation and hydroclimatic factors (soil moisture, precipitation, solar radiation, and temperature), a Standardized Vegetation Index (SVI) is used as a proxy for vegetation health, and a bivariate copula-based probabilistic model is developed incorporating a Combined Climate Index (CCI) derived through Supervised Principal Component Analysis (SPCA) and the SVI.

This study investigates the potential of zinc oxide (ZnO) and Ag-doped zinc oxide (Ag-ZnO) nanoparticles (NPs) (1, 3 and 5 wt%) electrospun into poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) based triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) to harness electrical energy from ambient mechanical vibrations. ZnO and Ag-ZnO NPs were developed using a co-precipitation method. 3 wt% Ag-ZnO doping was optimized to exhibit a higher β-crystalline phase in PVDF (PAZ3).
