High temperature stress seriously affects the growth of cucumber seedlings, and even leads to a decline in yield and quality. miRNAs have been shown to be involved in regulating the response to stress in plants, but little is known about its effects on cucumber high temperature stress tolerance. Here, we found that high temperature stress induced the expression of miR9748 in cucumber. Overexpression of cucumber miR9748 in Arabidopsis improved high temperature tolerance. Transcriptome analysis revealed that miR9748 might mediate high temperature tolerance through plant hormone signal pathway. 5' RNA ligase-mediated rapid amplification of cDNA ends (5' RLM-RACE) and transient transformation technology demonstrated that was the target gene of miR9748. overexpression plants decreased high temperature tolerance accompanied by reducing the content of jasmonic acid (JA), but alleviated by foliar application of methyl jasmonate, indicating that negatively regulated high temperature stress tolerance through inhibition JA signal pathway. Furthermore, high temperature stress also increased the expression level of . Yeast one-hybrid and dual-luciferase assays showed that CsbZIP2 directly bound to the promoter of to induce its expression. Taken together, our results indicated that CsbZIP2 directly regulated miR9748 expression to cleave to mediate high temperature tolerance through JA pathway.

This study shows the efficiency of WH-C450, an adsorbent obtained from water hyacinth (WH) biomass, in the removal of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) from aqueous solutions. The process involves calcination of WH at 450 °C to produce an optimal adsorbent material capable of removing up to 73% of SMX and maximum SMX adsorption capacity of 132.23 mg/g.

Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) is a genetic autoinflammatory disorder characterized by recurrent febrile episodes that are accompanied by pain in the abdomen, chest, or joints caused by peritonitis, pleuritis, skin lesions, arthritis, and pericarditis. This original article aims to provide an analytic autoethnographic account of a Turkish patient's experience of FMF, with a focus on the discovery of spiritual meaning. In addition to discussing the grief reactions to a loss of health, the article uses self-reflexive discourse and narrative-based analysis to explore four stages of discovery of spiritual meaning through FMF: "omnipotent me," "God's punishment," "God's test," and "God's mercy.

Previous health impact assessments of temperature-related mortality in Europe indicated that the mortality burden attributable to cold is much larger than for heat. Questions remain as to whether climate change can result in a net decrease in temperature-related mortality. In this study, we estimated how climate change could affect future heat-related and cold-related mortality in 854 European urban areas, under several climate, demographic and adaptation scenarios.

Incommensurately modulated crystals are a rare class of materials that are notoriously difficult to characterize properly. We have synthesized two new incommensurately modulated compounds, RbTaSe and CsTaSe, based on the MQ (M = Nb, Ta; Q = S, Se) unit using high-temperature solid-state synthesis. Using superspace crystallography in combination with second harmonic generation measurements, we confirmed both materials to be noncentrosymmetric, falling into the superspace group 1(αβγ)0, while the basic cell suggests 2/.

A paediatric patient presented with periorbital oedema and fever. Initially, there was low suspicion for cavernous sinus thrombosis and orbital cellulitis due to the presence of full extraocular movements. However, given worsening bilateral periorbital oedema, lethargy and sepsis, neuroimaging was performed demonstrating inflammation and enhancement of the leptomeninges and left cavernous sinus, and raising concern for cavernous sinus thrombosis in the setting of orbital cellulitis.
