The introduction of whole slide imaging and digital pathology has enabled greater scrutiny of visual search behaviors among pathologists. We aim to investigate zooming and panning behaviors, external markers of visual processing capabilities, and the changes with experience. Twenty digitized breast core needle biopsy histopathology slides were obtained from the circulating slides from the main digital pathology trial (IRAS number: 258799). These were presented to five pathologists with varying experience (1.5 to 40 years) whose examinations were recorded. Data of visual fixations were collected using eye-tracking cameras, and the magnification data and zooming behaviors were extracted in an objective fashion by an automated algorithm. The relationship between experience and metrics was analyzed using mixed-effects regression analyses. There was a significant association between experience and both reading times ( ) and a number of fixations ( ), with these relationships being inversely proportional. The greater experience was also associated with greater diagnostic accuracy ( ). We found that experience was significantly associated with greater use of magnification changes ( ). Conversely, less experience showed a near significant association with the increased proportion of time spent panning ( ). Fewer fixations needed to reach a diagnosis and quicker reading times are indicative of greater cognitive and visual processing capabilities with greater experience. These cognitive capabilities may be a prerequisite for the more frequent zooming changes that are more prevalent with increasing experience.

Unlabelled: Mandibular reconstruction is essential for restoring both function and aesthetics after segmental resection due to tumoral pathology. This study aimed to conduct a comparative analysis of three reconstruction strategies for defects resulting from segmental mandibular resection, utilizing finite element analysis (FEA).

Methods: A digital model of the mandible was created from CBCT data and optimized for FEA.

The treatment landscape for advanced melanoma has transformed significantly with the advent of BRAF and MEK inhibitors (BRAF/MEKi) targeting V600 mutations, as well as immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) like anti-PD-1 monotherapy or its combinations with anti-CTLA-4 or anti-LAG-3. Despite that, many patients still do not benefit from these treatments at all or develop resistance mechanisms. Therefore, prognostic and predictive biomarkers are needed to identify patients who should switch or escalate their treatment strategies or initiate an intensive follow-up.

Pre-Clinical Rationale for Amcenestrant Combinations in HER2+/ER+ Breast Cancer.

HER2-positive/oestrogen receptor-positive (HER2+/ER+) represents a unique breast cancer subtype. The use of individual HER2- or ER-targeting agents can lead to the acquisition of therapeutic resistance due to compensatory receptor crosstalk. New drug combinations targeting HER2 and ER could improve outcomes for patients with HER2+/ER+ breast cancer.

Background: Myocardial disease is an important component of the wide field of cardiovascular disease. However, the phenomenon of multiple myocardial diseases in a single patient remains understudied.

Aim: To investigate the prevalence and impact of myocarditis in patients with genetic cardiomyopathies and to evaluate the outcomes of myocarditis treatment in the context of cardiomyopathies.

Predicting the behavior of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is challenging using standard-of-care histopathologic examination. Indeed, pathologic RCC tumor grading, based on nuclear morphology, performs poorly in predicting outcomes of patients with International Society of Urological Pathology/World Health Organization grade 2 and 3 tumors, which account for most ccRCCs. We applied spatial point process modeling of H&E-stained images of patients with grade 2 and grade 3 ccRCCs ( = 72) to find optimum separation into two groups.
