Signal enhancement ratio of multi-phase contrast-enhanced MRI: an imaging biomarker for survival in pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

Eur Radiol

November 2024

Cultivation and Construction Site of the State Key Laboratory of Intelligent Imaging and Interventional Medicine, Department of Radiology, Zhongda Hospital, Medical School of Southeast University, 87 Dingjiaqiao Road, 210009, Nanjing, Jiangsu, China.

Objectives: To evaluate signal enhancement ratio (SER) for tissue characterization and prognosis stratification in pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC), with quantitative histopathological analysis (QHA) as the reference standard.

Methods: This retrospective study included 277 PDAC patients who underwent multi-phase contrast-enhanced (CE) MRI and whole-slide imaging (WSI) from three centers (2015-2021). SER is defined as (SI - SI)/(SI - SI), where SI, SI and SI represent the signal intensity of the tumor in pre-contrast, early-, and late post-contrast images, respectively.

Free Tissue Transfer for Reconstruction After Bilateral Skin Sparing Mastectomy-A Systematic Review.

Ann Plast Surg

April 2024

From the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic, Hand and Reconstructive Surgery, Hannover Medical School, Hannover, Germany.

Background: Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed malignant neoplasia in females worldwide. Overall survival and patients' choice for bilateral mastectomy have increased. It is therefore important to offer breast reconstructive procedures to improve patient quality of life and self-esteem.

Background: Posterior stabilization surgery is considered the gold standard for restoring spine stability in patients with traumatic thoracolumbar fractures. However, whether long-segment (LS) stabilization or short-segment (SS) stabilization is an optimal approach for achieving more effective restoration of spinal stability remains unclear.

Material And Methods: Patients who underwent posterior stabilization surgery for traumatic thoracolumbar fractures were included in the study.

Background: Linear scleroderma is an autoimmune connective disorder characterized by a saber-shaped facial deformity. The superficial circumflex iliac artery/superficial inferior epigastric artery (SCIA/SIEA) adipofascial flap is versatile for facial reconstruction, providing excellent aesthetic outcomes and minimal donor-site morbidity. Thus, this study aimed to share our experience of successfully treating linear scleroderma using single-stage SCIA/SIEA adipofascial flap microsurgery transplantation.

Study Design: Retrospective review.

Objectives: Spinal intradural extramedullary abscess (SIEA) is a rare disease with an unknown incidence. In this study, we systematically described the clinical course of SIEA in a large cohort with acute onset of neurological illness, assessed the morbidity and mortality rates, and determined the potential risk factors for mortality.
