Copolymerization of diallylamine (DAA) and itaconic acid (IA) was synthesized using benzoyl peroxide as a free radical initiator, in dioxane as the solvent. The composition of the copolymer was determined by the nitrogen content using Edx. The solubility of the copolymer was also investigated. The water solubility of the synthesized copolymer depends on the comonomers' ratio. The structure of the copolymer was confirmed by C-NMR spectroscopy. To increase the water insolubility of the copolymers, and keep their hydrophilicity, the copolymer was allowed to react with chitosan to form a superabsorbent polymeric material (SP). The structure of the synthesized superabsorbent was confirmed using C-NMR spectroscopy. The thermal property of the (SP) was also investigated by TGA. The investigation of the chitosan-based superabsorbent, as water-retaining agents, was studied. The results revealed that the superabsorbent polymers exhibited a good swelling ability and salt tolerance.

Innate and adaptive immunity are intricately linked to the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC), with dysregulation of the Treg/Th17 balance and M2/M1 macrophage polarization identified as critical factors. Artesunate (ARS) has previously been shown to alleviate UC by inhibiting endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS). To further investigate the regulatory effects of ARS on immune dysregulation associated with colitis and the role of ERS in this process, an experimental colitis model was established using dextran sulfate sodium (DSS).

Key Laboratory of Carcinogenesis and Translational Research (Ministry of Education/Beijing), Gastrointestinal Cancer Center, Peking University Cancer Hospital & Institute, Beijing 100142, China.

Objective: The trial was designed to evaluate the efficacy of prophylactic hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) with cisplatin for patients with locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC).

Methods: Between March 2015 and November 2016, a phase II clinical trial was performed. Fifty consecutive patients with LAGC were randomly assigned to two groups: the experimental group (radical gastrectomy + HIPEC with cisplatin + adjuvant chemotherapy) and the control group (radical gastrectomy + adjuvant chemotherapy).

Background: Benth is commonly utilized in China to take advantage of its purported health benefits.

Methods: Here, the chemical composition, nutritional value, and bioactivity of Benth extract (CGE) are characterized, and the mechanisms through which it functions were explored.

Results: CGE was found to exhibit a favorable nutritional and biosafety profile, especially due to its high amino acid and mineral contents.
