To understand the origins, secondary formation and seasonality of carbonaceous aerosols in North China, we collected PM samples on day- and night-time bases in summer and winter 2016 from a typical metropolis, Tianjin, and studied their carbonaceous components and stable carbon isotope ratios of total carbon (δC). PM ranged from 21.2 μg m to 74.8 μg m in summer and 25.3-816 μg m in winter. On average, organic carbon (OC) elemental carbon (EC) and water-soluble OC were found to be higher (3-5 times) in winter than that in summer. Secondary organic carbon that estimated by EC-tracer method was enhanced by a factor of 7 in winter compared to that in summer. δC showed a small enrichment of C (average -25.41 ± 0.34‰) in summer compared to that (-24.42 ± 0.44‰) in winter. Linear relations and mass ratios of selected carbonaceous components and δC imply that the carbonaceous aerosols in Tianjin were mainly derived from biomass burning emissions and photochemical processing in summer. In winter, coal combustion emissions and secondary formation of organics, including water-insoluble OC (WIOC), were dominant. This study warrants a need to understand the formation mechanisms of WIOC in the urban atmosphere and thus to reconcile the atmospheric models.

Multiple myeloma(MM) remains incurable with high relapse and chemoresistance rates. Differentially expressed genes(DEGs) between newly diagnosed myeloma and secondary plasma cell leukemia(sPCL) were subjected to a weighted gene co-expression network analysis(WGCNA). Drug resistant myeloma cell lines were established.

The effects of 1 % xanthan gum (XG) and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) on the physicochemical and structural properties of triticale gluten (TG) during fermentation were investigated. Rheological analysis revealed that the addition of XG or HPMC decreased G' and G″ values, while increasing tanδ and recovery strain of triticale gluten during fermentation. Thermal gravimetric analysis demonstrated that triticale gluten added with XG after fermentation exhibited the highest residual mass, showing a 9.

Uridine diphosphate-glycosyltransferases (UGTs) are responsible for glycosylation by combining various small lipophilic molecules with sugars to produce water-soluble glycosides, which are crucial for the metabolism of plant secondary metabolites and detoxification in insects. This study presents a genome-wide analysis of the UGT gene family in the brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens, a destructive insect pest of rice in Asia. Based on the similarity to UGT homologs from other organisms, 20 putative NlUGT genes were identified in N.

Background: Frailty is a common geriatric syndrome worldwide, and its early identification and intervention have important clinical significance. Resistance training has been recommended as an efficient means to combat loss of muscle strength and mass; however, it is often not a prioritized option for older adults. Tai chi is a well-known traditional Chinese exercise that has a beneficial impact on physical performance, balance ability, metabolism, and immune function.

Aquilaria malaccensis Lam., an Agarwood-producing tree native to Southeast Asia, secretes oleoresin, a resin with diverse applications, in response to injuries. To explore the role of endosphere microbial communities during Agarwood development, we utilized a metagenomics approach across three stages: non-symptomatic (NC), symptomatic early (IN), and symptomatic mature (IN1).
