Background: Inflammatory myositis, such as dermatomyositis, is sometimes complicated by cancer and is recognized as cancer-associated myositis. Although some autoimmune antibodies are considered to be involved in the development of myositis in cancer patients, the precise mechanism has not been clarified. The findings of the present case shed light on the mechanism by which anti-transcriptional intermediary factor 1 (TIF1)-γ Ab was produced and the pathogenesis of cancer-associated myositis.

Case Presentation: We describe a case of dermatomyositis that developed in a 67-year-old man who had been diagnosed with small cell lung cancer of clinical T4N3M0 stage IIIB/limited disease during treatment. He received systemic chemotherapy and radiation therapy, and dermatomyositis developed along with a significant decrease in tumor size. TIF1-γ Ab, which is one of the myositis-specific antibodies, was found to be seroconverted. In addition, immunohistochemical analysis showed that cancer cells were positive for the TIF1-γ antigen.

Conclusion: The findings of the present case suggest that transcriptional intermediary factor 1-γ, which is released from tumor cells, induces the production of TIF1-γ Ab, leading to the development of dermatomyositis.

We examined whether beliefs about autonomic arousal sensations and sexual sensation seeking explain some of the gender differences in self-reporting paraphilic sexual interests in 672 university students. A serial mediation model was used to test the direct association of gender and the indirect associations of positive interpretations of autonomic arousal sensations and sexual sensation seeking on paraphilic sexual interests. Background: Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a prevalent condition among women, significantly impairing their quality of life. Emerging evidence suggests that metabolic dysfunction may play a role in the development of SUI, although the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study aims to examine the association between the cardiometabolic index (CMI), a novel marker of metabolic health, and the risk of SUI in women.

Background: Previous research has indicated a potential connection between smoking and tooth loss, but it remains unclear how the metabolites of nicotine, cotinine (COT) and trans-3'-hydroxycotinine (HC), and the nicotine metabolite ratio (NMR) affect the occurrence and progress of tooth loss. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between tooth loss and smoking metabolites, then verify how the systemic immunoinflammatory index (SII) or monocyte to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (MHR) levels mediate this process.

Methods: The cross-sectional study data were collected from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).

Background: Syringe services programs (SSP) are evidence-based venues offering harm reduction services to persons who inject drugs (PWID), such as sterile syringes, STI/HIV testing, and linkage to care to decrease drug use-related morbidities and mortalities. Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) have been linked with reduced resilience, while increased resilience can help PWID attend SSPs. This study examined the potential mediating role of resilience between ACEs and SSP attendance among PWID.

Background: In healthcare settings, particularly in intensive care units, nurses face significant stress due to the high demands of their job. This stress can impact their job satisfaction, mental health, and overall quality of life. Emotional intelligence has been identified as a crucial factor that can mitigate workplace stress and enhance job satisfaction.
