Palladium-catalyzed alkenylation of δ-C(sp)-H bonds with alkynes was conducted by density functional theory calculations. The present study shows that the dimeric Pd(OAc) mechanism reproduces experimental observations well, including regioselectivity and provides a deep mechanistic insight complementing the monomeric Pd(OAc) mechanism recently reported by Chen's group. In addition, the economical heterodimeric Ni-Pd(OAc) was predicted to be a potential species for such alkenylation of δ-C(sp)-H bonds.

Coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulation is widely accepted for assessment of a large complex biological system, but it may also lead to a misleading conclusion. The challenge is to simulate protein structural dynamics (such as folding-unfolding behavior) due to the lack of a necessary backbone flexibility. This study developed a standard coarse-grained model directly from the protein atomic structure and amino acid coarse-grained FF (such as MARTINI FF v2.

The development and modification of grouting materials constitute crucial factors influencing the effectiveness of grouting. Given the pivotal role of water in the hydration of cement-based composite materials and construction processes, this study proposes an exploratory approach using green, economical magnetized water technology to enhance the performance of cement grouts. The research systematically investigates the effects of magnetized water on the fundamental grouting properties (stability, rheological behavior, and stone body strength) of cement grouts, prepared under varying magnetization conditions (including magnetic intensity, water flow speed, and cycle times).

Import and assembly of mitochondrial proteins into multimeric complexes are essential for cellular function. Yet, many steps of these processes and the proteins involved remain unknown. Here, we identify a novel pathway for disulfide bond formation and assembly of mitochondrial inner membrane (IM) proteins.

A new method was developed to quickly produce carboxymethyl hemicellulose (CM-Hemi) and fluorescent nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) from sugarcane bagasse (SB). These materials were then combined with calcium chloride (CaCl₂) to create hydrogel sensors with antibacterial and antifungal properties. The CM-Hemi@Ca-N-CDs hydrogel was effective against both Gram-negative (Escherichia coli) and Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) bacteria compared to CM-Hemi@Ca which give no antibacterial activity.
