The applications of sonography were evaluated in 220 patients undergoing 354 in vitro fertilization cycles. A baseline sonogram demonstrated adnexal abnormalities in 10.7% of cycles. Serial sonograms were beneficial in monitoring follicular development. Oocyte harvest was canceled in 18.4% of cycles owing to inadequate follicle growth progression, as demonstrated by ultrasound. An additional 9% of cycles were canceled owing to the development of a single lead follicle. Six percent of cycles were accompanied by a spontaneous rise in serum luteinizing hormone values, necessitating sonographic correlation to exclude ovulation.

Objective: This study aimed to develop a predictive model for the risk of no usable blastocyst formation in patients with normal ovarian reserve undergoing IVF.
Methods: The model was derived from 7,901 patients who underwent their first oocyte retrieval and subsequent blastocyst culture, of which 446 cases have no usable blastocysts formed. Univariate regression analyses, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression analysis were used to identify the association of patient and cycle characteristics with the presence of no available blastocyst and to create a nomogram.

As part of a conventional controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) regimen, final follicular maturation is usually triggered by a single bolus dose of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). COH, which combines GnRH antagonist co-treatment with GnRH agonist(GnRHa) trigger, is often used in attempts to eliminate severe early ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and to improve oocyte/embryo yield and quality. The overall goal of this research was to develop an embryonic stem cell (ESC) line from the Pacific white shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei, to support production of cell-based cultivated seafood products towards meeting a growing global demand for sustainable seafood. It was hypothesized that characteristics of ESCs, such as high proliferation and pluripotency, would facilitate development of a continuous cell line that could be triggered to differentiate into a muscle cell phenotype. The targeted approach was based on collection of ESCs from fertilized shrimp eggs at the blastomere stage.
