Metal-organic framework (MOF)-based derivatives with uniform micro/mesoporous structures have attracted a great deal of interest in various research fields. Herein, we report a simple strategy to design functional mesoporous ternary metal oxides with controlled composition through direct pyrolysis of Co/Cu bimetal-formate frameworks (Co/Cu-MFFs), which were prepared by a facile one-step liquid-phase precipitation method, exhibiting uniform distribution of two different metal species and good structural integrity. The obtained mesoporous ternary metal oxide Cu Co O ( = 0.5, 1) microcubes exhibit much better performance for CO oxidation than pure CoO, which can be mainly attributed to their larger specific surface areas, stronger reducibility, and the synergistic effect of two active metal oxide components.

A water-soluble ternary copolymer bearing carboxyl, sulfonic, and amide functional groups was synthesized using ammonium persulfate-catalyzed free radical polymerization in water, resulting in high monomer conversion. This copolymer was then complexed with aluminum sulfate, forming an admixture containing Al(SO)(OH)·5HO, which was subsequently combined with silica gel. Characterization revealed that the synthesized copolymer formed a large, thin membrane that covered both the aluminum compounds and the silica gel blocks.

Visible-light active anatase/brookite/rutile (A/B/R) ternary N-doped titania (N/TiO) crystals are successfully prepared by a facile sol-gel method using titanium butoxide and benign N-dopant source, guanidinium chloride. Systematically varying the aging time (1, 4, 8, and 12 d), its influence on physicochemical properties of as-obtained spherical heterojunction nanomaterials is studied. Detailed characterizations confirm that a substantial amount of anatase (88% to 50%) is transformed to rutile (2% to 38%) via intermediate brookite phase (9% to 25%) as the function of aging time; not only the A/B/R phase content of the samples is tuned by sol-gel aging time of the precursors solution but also their optical-response and methylene blue photocatalytic properties are profoundly dictated.

Spinel ferrites have attracted considerable interest in energy storage systems due to their unique magnetic, electrical and catalytic properties. However, they suffer from poor electronic conductivity and low specific capacity. We have addressed this limitation by synthesizing composite hollow carbon nanofibers (HCNF) embedded with nanostructured Nickel Zinc Ferrite (NZF) and Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNT), through coaxial electrospinning.

Article Synopsis
  • A novel enzyme-free electrochemical biosensor using palladium-platinum-copper mesoporous nanocubes (PdPtCu MNCs) was developed to detect HIV-p24 with high sensitivity.
  • PdPtCu MNCs demonstrate strong peroxidase activity due to their unique composition and structure, while gold nanoparticles combined with graphene oxide enhance the sensor's performance.
  • The immunosensor shows a linear detection range from 0.04 pg/mL to 100 ng/mL and can effectively function in human serum, representing a promising advance in clinical diagnostics for HIV detection.
