Ferroelectric poly(vinylidene fluoride)/semiconductive polythiophene (P3CPenT) blend monolayers were developed at varying blend ratios using the Langmuir-Blodgett technique. The multilayered blend nanosheets show much improved surface roughness that is more applicable for electronics applications than spin-cast films. Because of the precisely controllable bottom-up construction, semiconductive P3CPenT were well dispersed into the ferroelectric PVDF matrix. Moreover, the ferroelectric matrix contains almost 100% β crystals: a polar crystal phase responsible for the ferroelectricity of PVDF. Both the good dispersion of semiconductive P3CPenT and the outstanding ferroelectricity of the PVDF matrix in the blend nanosheets guaranteed the success of ferroelectric organic non-volatile memories based on ferroelectricity-manipulated resistive switching with a fresh high ON/OFF ratio and long endurance to 30 days.

Sulfur dioxide (SO) is a common environmental pollutant with significant hazards. However, sensors for SO real-time monitoring at room temperature often face problems such as a poor response and sluggish recovery. In this work, a fuel cell-type gas sensor based on nitrogen-doped carbon nanotube (CNT) aerogels loaded with Cu particle electrode material and COF/Nafion composite electrolyte was developed, which exhibited excellent SO sensitivity and fast response/recovery.

Fibrous scaffolds capable of delivering natural drugs and herbs show great promise for tissue regeneration and wound care, particularly in personalized medicine. This study presents the fabrication and characterization of drug-eluting antibacterial core-shell mats composed of polycaprolactone (PCL) and pectin nanofibers produced through coaxial electrospinning. Berberine chloride (BBR), an herbal compound with antineoplastic, anti-inflammatory, antilipidemic, and antidiabetic properties, served as the model drug.

Two-dimensional (2D) in-plane heterostructures display exceptional optical and electrical properties well beyond those of their pristine components. However, they are usually produced by tedious and energy-intensive bottom-up growth approaches, not compatible with scalable solution-processing technologies. Here, we report a new stepwise microfluidic approach, based on defect engineering of liquid-phase exfoliated transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), to synthesize 2D hetero-networks.

Thermal interface materials play a pivotal role in efficiently transferring heat from heating devices to thermal management components, thereby reducing the risk of component degradation due to overheating. In this study, we propose a strategy for enhancing the out-of-plane thermal conductivity (TC) of composite materials by fabricating a three-dimensional (3D) thermal network within a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) matrix. Specifically, the composite material was designed to incorporate a dense thermal network comprising hexagonal boron nitride nanosheets (BNNSs) and nanodiamonds (NDs).

Layered double hydroxide (LDH)-carbon composites effectively mitigate the inherent issues of agglomeration and poor conductivity in LDH. However, the weak binding energy and insufficient charge transfer capability between LDH and carbon substrate significantly compromise the active substance loading, cyclic stability and practical capacity of the composites. Herein, N/O co-doping porous carbon nanofibers (NOPCNFs) are first prepared by blending diminutive zinc imidazolate framework-8 nanoparticles with polyacrylonitrile for electrospinning, and then densely packed NiCo LDH nanosheets are homogeneously anchored on NOPCNFs to form NiCo LDH@NOPCNFs heterostructure via a hydrothermal method.
