Large molecules such as 2-methylbutane (CH) or 2,2-dimethylbutane (CH) form structure H (sH) hydrates with methane (CH) as a help gas. In this study, the Raman spectra of the C-H symmetric stretch region of CH enclathrated within various sH hydrates and structure I CH hydrates were analyzed in the temperature range 83-183 K. Thermal expansions of these sH hydrate samples were also measured using powder X-ray diffraction. Symmetric stretch vibrational frequencies of CH in host water cages increased because of varying temperature, and the sizes of the host water cages also increased; variation of CH in small cages was less than in larger cages. Comparing the variations of the C-H symmetric stretching frequencies of CH in gas hydrates with varying pressure and temperature, we suggest that the observed trend is caused by thermal vibrations of the CH molecule in water cages.

Alkyl nickel intermediates relevant to catalytic processes often feature agostic stabilization, but relatively little is known about the situation in oligonickel systems. The dinickel(I) complex K[LNi], which is based on a compartmental pyrazolato-bridged ligand L with two β-diketiminato chelate arms, or its masked version, the dihydride complex [KL(Ni-H)] that readily releases H, oxidatively add methyl tosylate to give diamagnetic [LNi(CH)] () with (Ni···Ni) ≈ 3.7 Å.

Narrowband fluorescent emitters are receiving significant attention due to the great potential for creating ultrahigh-definition organic light-emitting diode displays (UHD-OLED). Unveiling innovative mechanisms to design new high-performance narrowband fluorescent emitters is a concerted endeavor in both academic and industrial circles. Theoretical calculations reveal that the centrosymmetric dianilido-bipyridine boron difluoride framework (-DAPBF) exhibits significantly reduced structural relaxation compared to previously reported asymmetric structures with monofluoroboron cores, creating new opportunities for the development of narrowband fluorescent emitters.

Aqueous solubilization of porphyrins, often accomplished with appended polar aryl groups, can also be achieved with symmetrically branched alkyl (i.e., swallowtail) groups terminated with polar moieties.

We report the construction of unsymmetrical dimeric carbazoles and π-extended bis carbazoles (having an aryl ring spacer) via the C-H functionalization route. Generally, oxidative coupling and traditional cross-coupling reactions have been used to construct bis- and π-extended carbazoles. Natural bis carbazole alkaloids and synthetic dimeric carbazoles are important molecules in medicinal, materials chemistry research.

Unlike traditional multi-step synthetic approaches, we developed a single-step synthesis of versatile π-conjugated building blocks bearing post-functionalizable C-H and C-Br bonds. Direct C-H arylation of 3-bromothiophene with various iodo(hetero)aryls was successfully carried out with good regio- and chemo-selectivity. Under optimized reaction conditions, 20 new compounds were facilely prepared in yields up to 91 %.
