Green-fluorescent N-doped carbon dots (N-CDs) have been successfully fabricated using hydrothermal treatment of tyrosine and urea. The N-CDs obtained showed excitation-independent emission, superior stability and strong photoluminescence with a quantum yield of . 9.8%. Based on these striking behaviors, the as-prepared N-CDs have been utilized in Co detection and temperature sensing. Due to an inner filter effect, the N-CDs obtained were dramatically quenched by Co with linear ranges of 0.1 μM-10 μM, 25 μM-275 μM and 300 μM-400 μM, and they had a detection limit of 0.15 μM. The use of the as-prepared N-CDs has been extended to visualize Co fluctuations in living cells. Additionally, the N-CDs obtained have also been applied for use as a temperature sensor with a linear range of 25-80 °C.

Background noise interferes with the accurate detection of early tumor biomarkers. This study introduces a method that effectively reduces background noise to enhance detection accuracy by combining a color-coded signaling approach with the unique fluorescent properties and room-temperature tunable quantum spin characteristics of fluorescent diamonds (FNDs) with nitrogen-vacancy centers. In this approach, a red signal indicates the presence of the target analyte within the spectral region, a green signal indicates its absence, and a yellow signal indicates the need for further analysis using FNDs' quantum spin properties for optical detection magnetic resonance (ODMR) to distinguish the FND signal from background noise.

Cancer is characterized by uncontrolled cell growth and spreading throughout the body. This study employed computational approaches to investigate 18 naturally derived anticancer piscidinol A derivatives (-) as potential therapeutics. By examining their interactions with 15 essential target proteins (HIF-1α, RanGAP, FOXM1, PARP2, HER2, ERα, NGF, FAS, GRP78, PRDX2, SCF complex, EGFR, Bcl-xL, ERG, and HSP70) and comparing them with established drugs such as camptothecin, docetaxel, etoposide, irinotecan, paclitaxel, and teniposide, compound emerged as noteworthy.

Spurred by the latest developments and growing utilization of zero-dimensional (0D) drug delivery and drug sensors, this investigation examines the possibilities of the 0D C fullerene for drug delivery and the detection of the anticancer drug chlormethine (CHL), the overabundance of which poses a significant threat to living organisms. This study employs density functional theory and ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations (AIMD) to evaluate and gain insights into the interaction mechanisms between pristine C fullerene, metal-metalloid (MM)-modified C fullerene (with Al, Fe, and B), and the anticancer drug CHL. It is observed that in the gas phase, the CHL drug molecule adsorbs onto the fullerenes in the following order: B-C > Fe-C > Al-C > C.
