Corroles are 18 π aromatic macrocyclic systems having one direct pyrrole-pyrrole linkage leading to a contracted cavity compared to porphyrins. Corroles exhibit contrasting coordination chemistry and properties compared to porphyrins. Structural modification of corroles by introducing a heteroatom in their aromatic conjugation circuit , either in the core or at a position leads to a new class of corrinoids called heterocorroles. The core modification strategy includes replacing one or two core nitrogen atom(s) with O, S or C atoms and -modification involves replacing the -carbon atom at the 10-position with NH, NR, O, S, Se or Si atoms. This review article presents an overview of the progress in heterocorrole chemistry including their syntheses, key structural aspects and properties.

Additives play a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), and carefully designed additives contribute to major breakthroughs in device performance. In this study, a series of novel A-π-A-type porphyrin derivatives-PPH-1, PPH-2, and PPF-1-are synthesized, each incorporating pyridyl groups, specifically engineered to function as passivation agents for PSCs. The electron-withdrawing properties of fluorine in PPF-1 increase the molecular polarity, thereby strengthening its interaction with the perovskite and enhancing the passivation efficacy.

Background & Aims: Erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP) is caused by mutations in ferrochelatase which inserts iron into protoporphyrin-IX (PP-IX) to generate heme. EPP is characterized by PP-IX accumulation, skin photosensitivity, cholestasis, and end-stage liver disease. Despite available drugs that address photosensitivity, treatment of EPP-related liver disease remains an unmet need.

Unlabelled: Previous studies illustrated that two banana GA20 oxidase2 (MaGA20ox2) genes, and , are implicated in controlling banana growth and development; however, the biological function of each gene remains unknown. Ma04g15900 protein (termed MaGA20ox2f in this article) is the closest homolog to the Rice SD1 (encoded by 'green revolution gene', ) in the banana genome. The expression of is confined to leaves, peduncles, fruit peels, and pulp.

Purpose: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) accounts for 20% of all breast cancer cases and is notably resistant to radiotherapy (RT). Photodynamic therapy (PDT) using porphyrins or their derivatives has shown promise as a potential cancer treatment and immune activator. This study evaluated the effects of combining PDT and RT in sublethal conditions for TNBC using in vitro and in vivo models.

A new Co 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(2',6'-dipivaloyloxyphenyl)porphyrin (1) with eight ester groups in all and ' positions of phenyl groups was designed, which displayed significantly improved 2e oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) selectivity compared with a 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(-dipivaloyloxyphenyl) porphyrin (2) without large steric groups. This work is significant to reveal the steric hindrance effect of metal porphyrins on electrocatalytic ORR selectivity.
