Ultraviolet light alters experimental aquarium water microbial communities.

The effect of ultraviolet (UV) light exposure, alone and in combination with CO exposure, on the water microbial community composition was tested in replicate experimental aquaria using source water from an established Amazon-themed exhibit housing mixed species of fishes. Total bacterial abundance, α-diversity metrics, and β-diversity metrics were determined 3 weeks and 1 week before, and weekly during 8 weeks of continuous treatment. The UV treatment significantly lowered the overall bacterial abundance while CO treatment had no effect. However, the UV exposure effect was variable across phyla. Some phyla were decreased while others were increased, including some of potential clinical significance. At the genus level, there were no significant differences in the relative abundance of Mycobacteria between treatments and an increase in the relative abundance of Aeromonas spp. with UV light treatment. Further work is needed to determine if the observed effects are dose-dependent or if different exposure doses produce different results.

We present the subcycle spectral structures from attosecond transient absorption spectra of helium by accurately solving the full three-dimensional time-dependent Schrödinger equation in extreme ultraviolet attosecond pulse and an orthogonally polarized infrared (IR) laser field. We discover that the subcycle spectral features associated with the dressed 1 ( ≥ 4) states and light-induced states, referred to as , , and , can be strongly modified or even enhanced when the strength ratio of the orthogonal laser field in two polarized laser directions changes. To understand the spectral evolution of the subcycle structures, we perform calculations of the time-dependent population and time-frequency analysis.

Sticker-type transparent antireflective film (STAF) is applied to perovskite solar cells (PSCs) to reduce the reflection and improve the light-trapping ability of PSCs. However, the development of STAF is hindered by many factors, such as expensive materials, low actual service life, unsatisfactory antireflective effect, and a lack of research on stability. This work proposes an ultraviolet (UV)-resistant enhanced sticker-type nanostructure acrylic resin antireflective film (SNAAF), which is applied to the incident surface of PSCs.
