Metal-free catalysts have garnered considerable interest as an environmental and economical alternative to precious metal catalysts. Bis(triphenylphosphine)iminium chloride (PPNCl) has emerged as a prominent choice due to its air and thermal stability and broad reactivity, especially in applications where a bulky cation is needed. The high phosphorus content and synthetic effort required for catalyst synthesis increase environmental impact; the recyclability of PPNCl in catalytic processes remains largely unexplored.

Biodegradable polymers are desirable to mitigate the environmental impact of plastic waste in the environment. Over the past several decades, the development of organocatalytic ring-opening polymerization (OROP) has made the synthesis of many new types of biodegradable polymers possible. In this research article, the first example of an oxygen atom transfer reagent pendant on a biodegradable polymer backbone is reported.

This comprehensive review highlights the diverse chemistry and applications of polymer-supported triphenylphosphine (PS-TPP) in organic synthesis since its inception. Specifically, the review describes applications of the preceding reagent in functional group interconversions, heterocycle synthesis, metal complexes and their application in synthesis, and total synthesis of natural products. Many examples are provided from the literature to show the scope and selectivity (regio, stereo, and chemo) in these transformations.

Metal nanoparticles (NPs) have wide applications in hydrogen evolution from ammonia-borane (AB) hydrolysis because they can provide large surface active areas for reactants, and thus produce high catalytic activity. Here, a hyper-cross-linked polymer (HCP-PPh), which was synthesized through the Friedel-Crafts reaction of benzene and triphenylphosphine, was employed as a support to stabilize Rh NPs. The characterization results revealed that the Rh NPs were uniformly dispersed on the surface of HCP-PPh, and that they had an average particle size of 2.

Stable latexes of hierarchically organized core-cross-linked polymer micelles that are functionalized at the core with triphenylphosphine (TPP@CCM) have been investigated by NMR spectroscopic analysis at both natural (ca. pH 5) and strongly basic (pH 13.6) pH values after core swelling with toluene.
