Imidazolyl activated carbon, denoted as AC-N, was prepared oxidation of AC with HNO (AC-O) and then refluxed with ethanediamine under mild conditions. The results showed that the N content of AC-N was 10.3%, and the surface alkali group density of AC-N was 0.96 mmol g from 0.78 mmol g carboxy group of AC-O by Boehm titration. It was revealed that the basic functional groups on the AC-N surface included imidazole and amine groups, from XPS and FT-IR. Evaluated with Michael addition of furfural, the catalytic performance of AC-N showed higher conversion and selectivity than that of commonly used base catalyst such as 2-methylimidazole and KOH. Very remarkably, AC-N showed extraordinary recyclability, in that there was no decline of conversion and selectivity after being recycled 5 times.

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) can be rationally designed with functional organic ligands to improve the electrochemical responsiveness of the electrode toward certain medicinal compounds. In this study, we synthesized a COF-Ni electrocatalyst material, which is formed by covalent coupling of electron-rich 2,3,6,7-tetrakis (4-formylphenyl) tetrakis (4-imidazolyl) (TTF-4CHO) and hole-rich 5,10,15,20-tetrakis (4-aminophenyl) porphyrin nickel(II) (TAPP-Ni). The reasonable electron transfer path design, the large specific surface area of the COF and the physical properties of ordered nanopores, as well as the Ni-N bond as a highly active catalytic center, allow the COF-Ni material modified electrode to exhibit excellent sensing performance for acetaminophen (ACOP).

Article Synopsis
  • Diabetes is a significant global health issue, with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) affected by genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors, making management challenging.
  • The study focused on a new antidiabetic agent, PA9, to evaluate its impact on various serum parameters in diabetic rats after treatment.
  • Results showed that PA9 effectively lowered cholesterol and triglyceride levels, protected liver and heart functions, and reduced oxidative stress, indicating its potential as a therapeutic option for diabetes management.

Anticancer Activity of Imidazolyl Gold(I/III) Compounds in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Cell Lines.

Pharmaceuticals (Basel)

August 2024

School of Biosciences and Veterinary Medicine, University of Camerino, Via Gentile III da Varano, 62032 Camerino, Italy.

Lung cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide that needs updated therapies to contrast both the serious side effects and the occurrence of drug resistance. A panel of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells were herein employed as cancer models. Eight structurally related gold(I) and gold(III) complexes with NHC and halides or triphenylphosphane ligands were investigated as lung cancer cell growth inhibitors.

Silver cluster-assembled materials (SCAMs) epitomize well-defined extended crystalline frameworks that combine the ingenious designability at the atomic/molecular level and high structural robustness. They have captivated the interest of the scientific fraternity because of their modular construction which enables to systematically tailor their functions, and their capacity to not only inherit the characteristics of component building units but also introduce their uniqueness in endowing the final material with extraordinary properties. Herein, we demonstrate the synthesis of a novel (3,6)-connected two-dimensional (2D) SCAM [Ag(SBu)(CFCOO)(THIT)] (described as TUS 5, THIT = 2,4,6-tri(1-imidazol-1-yl)-1,3,5-triazine) composed of Ag cluster nodes and tritopic imidazolyl linkers.
