Solid-state electrochemical methods have been applied to the establishment of patterns of plant growth and response to saline stress using seedlings of L., (L.) Greuter ( (L.) Aiton), (L.) Dumort ( L.). Upon electrochemical generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) the reactivity with such species was monitored using voltammetric signals associated to the oxidation of polyphenolic components of the plants. A simple kinetic model based on second-order reaction between ROS and polyphenolic components is applied to electrochemical data yielding apparent rate constants which can be correlated with the level of saline stress revealing significant differences between the tested species. These results were contrasted with the seed germination response to salt concentration in order to check potentiality of voltammetric techniques as analytical tools for evaluating salt stress tolerance in plants.

Extreme conditions, such as cold and high humidity in northeast China's high-latitude maize region, can hinder crop yield and stability during the vegetative stage. However, there is a paucity of research examining the effects of simultaneous cold and high humidity stress on plant responses. In this study, we characterized the acclimation of JD558 (cold- and high humidity-sensitive hybrid) and JD441 (cold- and high humidity-tolerant hybrid) to stress at sowing caused by cold (4 °C), high humidity (25%), and their combined stress for five days, using physiological measurements and metabolomics during the stress treatments and recovery stages.

CesA proteins response to arsenic stress in rice involves structural and regulatory mechanisms, highlighting the role of BES1/BZR1 transcript levels under arsenate exposure and significant downregulation of BZR1 protein expression. Plants interact with several hazardous metalloids during their life cycle through root and soil connection. One such metalloid, is arsenic and its perilous impact on rice cultivation is a well-known threat.

To determine the compatibility of two new biocontrol fungi with common chemical pesticides, this study examined the effects of three insecticides, namely, avermectin, imidacloprid, and acetamiprid, and three fungicides, namely, chlorogenonil, boscalid, and kasugamycin, on the mycelial growth and spore germination of strains IF-1106 and IJ-tg19. The insecticidal effects of mixed insecticides or fungicides with good compatibility with IJ-tg19 against were tested. The results showed that the six chemical pesticides exerted different degrees of inhibition on the mycelial growth of both strains, with an obvious dose-dependent effect.
