Hybrid perovskites based on hypophosphite ligands constitute an emerging family of compounds exhibiting unusual structures and offering a platform for construction of novel functional materials. We report the synthesis, crystal structure, and magnetic and optical properties of novel undoped and HCOO-doped manganese hypophosphite frameworks templated by methylhydrazinium cations. The undoped compound crystallizes in a three-dimensional perovskite-like orthorhombic structure, space group , with ordered organic cations located in windows between the perovskite cages expanding along the -direction. Both conventional anti-phase tilting, unconventional in-phase tilting and columnar shifts in the -direction are present. Doping with HCOO ions has a insignificant influence on the crystal structure but leads to a decrease of the unit cell volume. Magnetic studies indicate that these compounds order antiferromagnetically at = 6.5 K. Optical studies indicate that they exhibit red photoluminescence under 266 nm excitation with the activation energy for thermal quenching of 98 and 65 meV for the undoped and doped sample, respectively. For the undoped sample, the emission lifetime reaches 5.05 ms at 77 K but it decreases to 62.26 μs at 300 K. The low value of the activation energy and huge temperature dependence of photoluminescence intensity suggest a high potential of these hypophosphites for non-contact temperature sensing.

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites (OIHPs) have shown great potential for direct X-ray detection in security screening and medical diagnostics. However, their humidity stability is compromised due to the susceptibility of the structural components to water molecules, thereby limiting their practical application. In this work, stable and sensitive X-ray detection is achieved using high-quality bulk single crystals of the 3D perovskitoid (DMPZ)PbBr (DPB, DMPZ = N,N'-dimethyl-pyrazinium), wherein N-acid protons are replaced with hydrophobic alkyl groups.

KOBu-promoted [3 + 2] cycloaddition of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) with fullerenes has been developed for facile and efficient one-pot synthesis of 1,2,3,4-cyclic sulfoxide-fused [60]/[70]fullerene dihydrides, which offers a versatile platform for the site-selective preparation of various fullerene multiadducts with a wide range of functional groups. The utility of these tetra-functionalized fullerenes is demonstrated by the successful application as electron-transport materials in perovskite solar cells.

Efficient Orange Light-Emitting Diodes from Nontoxic Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Copper Halides Enabled by Nonionic Surfactant Chemisorption.

Ternary copper halides with an eco-friendly property have emerged as attractive candidates to replace toxic lead-containing perovskites for light-emitting diodes (LEDs), yet achieving long-wavelength electroluminescence remains unexplored. Herein, we report the first realization of orange-emitting LEDs (595 nm) based on nontoxic organic-inorganic PEACuI (PEA = β-phenylethylamine) films enabled by a nonionic surfactant poly(propylene glycol) bis(2-aminopropyl ether) (APPG) chemisorption. Experimental and theoretical analyses rationalize that the APPG additive has strong chemisorption with the Cu-I framework within the grain boundaries of PEACuI films, which not only improves the film's morphology but also passivates the iodine vacancy defects.

Hybrid organohalide perovskites have received considerable attention due to their exceptional photovoltaic (PV) conversion efficiencies in optoelectronic devices. In this study, we report the development of a highly sensitive, self-powered perovskite-based photovoltaic photodiode (PVPD) fabricated by incorporating a poly(amic acid)-polyimide (PAA-PI) copolymer as an interfacial layer between a methylammonium lead iodide (CHNHPbI, MAPbI) perovskite light-absorbing layer and a poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT: PSS) hole injection layer. The PAA-PI interfacial layer effectively suppresses carrier recombination at the interfaces, resulting in a high power conversion efficiency () of 11.
