In this paper, three adsorption isotherms of N719 dye on two different adsorbents, ZnO nanopowder and ZnO nanorods, at three different thicknesses have been fitted using a monolayer model with three types of receptor sites treated by statistical physics. The model involved parameters are: three coefficients ( , and ) indicating the numbers of adsorbed dye molecules per site, three parameters ( , and ) indicating the receptor site densities and three adsorption energies ((- ), (- ) and (- )). The evolution of these parameters in relation with thickness of ZnO was discussed. The pore size distribution (PSD) of ZnO nanopowder and ZnO nanorods as a function of the thickness has been studied using the chosen adequate model. The molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) has been investigated to optimize the different adsorbed geometries of the complex N719 dye@ZnO. The intermolecular interactions between the N719 dye and the ZnO surface have been studied by using the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (AIM) and reduced density gradient RDG. The results of the MEP, topological AIM and RDG are in agreement with the results of statistical physics.

The development of devices capable of storing energy harnessed from photons is on the rise, owing to the increasing global energy demand for smart systems. The majority of reports in this field cover the use of integrated type devices, which houses a separate photovoltaic module and supercapacitor or battery. Herein, we are reporting a photocapacitor with a simple two-electrode design, capable of operating without a conventional electrolyte or metal ions.

This study presents a significant advancement in tandem dye-sensitized solar cells (T-DSSCs) through the strategic synthesis of novel triazatruxene (TAT) sensitizers MS-1 and MS-2. These organic sensitizers demonstrate exceptional light-harvesting capacity and overall performance, pushing the boundaries of power conversion efficiency (PCE) in DSSCs. The MS-1-based DSSCs achieved an impressive PCE of 12.

In time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS), multivariate analysis (MVA) methods such as principal component analysis (PCA) are routinely employed to differentiate spectra. However, additional insights can often be gained by comparing processes, where each process is characterized by its own start and end spectra, such as when identical samples undergo slightly different treatments or when slightly different samples receive the same treatment. This study proposes a strategy to compare such processes by decomposing the loading vectors associated with them, which highlights differences in the relative behavior of the peaks.

A novel photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor for the detection of microcystic toxins (MC-LR) was developed on the basis of signal-sensitive change strategy. NiO nanoarray as a basic photoactive material was grown directly on the ITO glass electrode via calcination after hydrothermal reaction, while dye N719 was used to sensitize the electrode for enhancing visible light absorption, and the first signal-on stage was obtained. In the meantime, p-type CuO was applied as the signal probe attached to probe DNA (DNA) to improve the sensitivity, and the second "signal-on" stage appeared because of its synergistic effect with NiO nanoarrays.

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have emerged as a promising alternative for renewable energy conversion. The synthesis and characterization of the 2-acetonitrile-benzoxazole (BOA) sensitizer MSW-1-4 are presented along with their chemical structures. Four new organic dyes, MSW-1 through MSW-4, were synthesized using BOA as the main building block, with different additional donor groups.
