Branched-structure polyarylacetylene resins with low curing temperatures and excellent thermal stability are promising candidates for high-performance resin-matrix composites. In this work, the effects of different vinyl/acetylene group ratios on the thermal properties of star-shaped silicon-containing arylacetylene (SSA) resins and branched silicon-containing arylacetylene (BSA) resins were investigated by molecular dynamics simulations. The calculated interaction energies, diffusion behaviors, and glass transition temperatures () indicated that an increase in the vinyl/acetylene group ratio positively affected the rheological and thermal properties of the branched resins.

Antimicrobial and antioxidant packaging films play a crucial role in extending food shelf life, maintaining quality, and enhancing safety by inhibiting microbial growth and slowing oxidation processes. However, most commercial preservative films suffer from limited antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Moreover, these films are made from petroleum-based materials that degrade into microplastics, resulting in environmental contamination and potential health risks for humans.

The self-assembly of star-shaped 1,3,5-tris(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene molecules on Au(111) is investigated by using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. STM shows that for one monolayer deposition, the molecules self-assemble into two compact nanoarchitectures: one with a rectangular unit cell and a second one with a parallelogram unit cell. DFT calculations reveal that these two compact structures are stabilized by hydrogen bonds and that the rectangular nanoarchitecture has the lowest energy.
