The empirical solubility of hydrocarbon fluids, polyalphaolefin (PAO) and mineral oil, in thirteen small molecular weight alcohols (C-C) was determined. Butanols, pentanols, and 1-hexanol could dissolve up to PAO-10 and mineral oil. -Pentanol and 1-hexanol could also dissolve high-viscosity PAO-150. The dialkyl carbonate of fusel oil (DFC) was synthesized from dimethyl carbonate in 69% yield. DFC had excellent non-polar solubility and could dissolve PAO-150 and several common industrial lubricants. The flash point of DFC was 93 °C, more than twice that of isoamyl alcohol. DFC had net heating value of 30.47 MJ kg, nearly double that of dimethyl carbonate. However, its derived cetane number of 22.8 indicates DFC could not be used directly as diesel fuel.

In addition to the known therapeutic indications for cannabidiol, its administration by inhalation appears to be of great interest. Indeed, there is evidence of cannabidiol's efficacy in several physiological pathways, suggesting its potential for a wide range of applications for both local and systemic pulmonary administration like cancers. Significant advances in pulmonary drug delivery have led to innovative strategies to address the challenges of increasing the respirable fraction of drugs and standardizing inhalable products.

Developing orally administered pediatric formulations presents significant challenges due to the unique characteristics of pediatric patients. Terbinafine hydrochloride (TER), a powerful antifungal agent, is effective against various fungal infections, including Tinea capitis, which is common in children. However, its low aqueous solubility necessitates innovative pharmaceutical strategies to enhance its effectiveness.

Due to the low bioavailability and insolubility of high molecular weight polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (HMW-PAHs) in aqueous solutions, their degradation efficiency is significantly limited in wastewater treatment and environmental remediation. To address this challenge, we designed oil-in-water (O/W) macroemulsion (ME) bioreactors with mixed surfactants (Tween-80 and Triton X-100), -butanol, corn oil, and () to enhance the degradation efficiency of pyrene. Owing to the higher solubility of pyrene in MEs, it could be easily adsorbed onto hydrophobic groups on the cell surface.
