Borrowing external controls to augment the concurrent control arm is a popular topic in clinical trials. Bayesian dynamic borrowing methods adaptively discount external controls according to prior-data conflict. For the Gaussian endpoint, parameter-specific information borrowing enables differential discounting between the population mean and variance.

Ethylene glycol, a common component in automotive antifreeze and various household and industrial products, poses significant health risks upon ingestion, whether accidental or intentional. Characterized by severe metabolic acidosis, calcium oxalate crystal formation, and diverse end-organ damage, ethylene glycol toxicity can be fatal, with a potentially lethal dose estimated at 1500 mg/kg. The parent compound is osmotically active, leading to the production of harmful metabolites, such as glycolic and oxalic acids, which contribute to metabolic acidosis, nephrotoxicity, and cardiac toxicity.

Background: Quality of vision in patients with idiopathic epiretinal membranes (iERM) is closely linked to distorted vision (metamorphopsia), which is often underestimated in clinical settings. Current surgical decision-making relies heavily on visual acuity and OCT findings, which do not adequately reflect the patient's functional vision or the severity of metamorphopsia. There is a clinical need for tools that can reliably quantify this symptom to improve patient outcomes and streamline care pathways.

Occlusal cant is often perceived by both patients and dental practitioners as an aesthetic concern. While occlusal cant due to skeletal discrepancies or severe cases may necessitate surgical intervention, dental occlusal cant can be corrected through orthodontic treatment. This case series demonstrates the successful management of occlusal cant with asymmetric overbite using a novel approach: unilateral bite turbo attached to the lingual surface of a lateral incisor, canine, or both.
