Background: Previous studies attest to a lack of awareness about Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and limited participation of Black Americans in AD clinical trials. The AHEAD Study is a multicenter trial focused on preventing AD by evaluating the effectiveness and safety of Lecanemab in individuals with preclinical AD. The study aims to recruit at least 15% from underrepresented populations, including Black Americans.

Background: To promote caregiver health and reduce burden, the Savvy Caregiver Program (SCP), an evidence-based caregiving intervention, was adapted with a Native Hawaiian (NH) community in Hawai'i. The adaptation process occurred prior to pilot testing in two phases: 1) the preliminary adaptation by a community action board (CAB) and mentorship team and 2) pre-pilot testing and expert validation with NH adults. The preliminary adaptation, titled 'Auamo Kuleana O Nā Ma'i Poina ('Auamo Kuleana), aimed to include Hawaiian values, language, proverbs, and culturally relevant examples while maintaining the core components of the program.

Background: Black/African Americans in the Deep South have been subjected to social segregation, discrimination, and other forms of systematic injustices that continue to negatively impact this population's social determinants of health (SDoH). Healthy People 2030 has outlined a framework describing how adverse SDoH are associated with health inequities including higher rates of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). Historically, it has been challenging to recruit citizens from this region to participate in brain aging-related research studies.

Empowerment, the process by which a person is enabled to increase control over decisions concerning their life, is a multidimensional construct that has been extensively discussed by various disciplines for more than four decades. Several empowerment models have been presented, based on different approaches. This paper proposes a four-step model, based on individual and contextual awareness and advancement.
