Background: Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is a rare inherited arrhythmia disorder characterized by ventricular arrhythmia triggered by adrenergic stimulation.

Case Presentation: A 9-year-old boy presented with convulsions following physical exertion. Bidirectional ventricular tachycardia (VT) during a treadmill test led to the diagnosis of catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT).

Objective: Incomplete occlusion of cerebral dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) may lead to fistula recurrence and rebleeding, which may necessitate several embolizations and lead to worse clinical outcomes. Herein, we describe a grouting technique for endovascular embolization and its outcomes in a series of patients with complex intracranial DAVF.

Methods: A total of 20 patients with aggressive type or symptomatic intracranial non-cavernous DAVF underwent endovascular transvenous embolization combining detachable coils and Onyx.

Interventional Radiology for Bleeding Ectopic Varices: Individualized Approach Based on Vascular Anatomy.

Radiographics

August 2024

From the Department of Radiology, Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul National University College of Medicine, 101 Daehak-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul 03080, Korea (H.C.K., J.W. Chung., H.J.J., J.W. Choi); Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Fukui-ken Saiseikai Hospital, Fukui, Japan (S.M.); Department of Radiology, Division of Interventional Radiology and Department of Surgery, Division of Liver and Pancreas Transplantation, University of California at Los Angeles Medical Center, David Geffen School of Medicine, Los Angeles, Calif (E.W.L.); and Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Changi General Hospital, Singapore (D.Y.L.).

Ectopic varices are rare but potentially life-threatening conditions usually resulting from a combination of global portal hypertension and local occlusive components. As imaging, innovative devices, and interventional radiologic techniques evolve and are more widely adopted, interventional radiology is becoming essential in the management of ectopic varices. The interventional radiologist starts by diagnosing the underlying causes of portal hypertension and evaluating the afferent and efferent veins of ectopic varices with CT.

Initial Experience With Intercostal Insertion of an Extravascular ICD Lead Compatible With Existing Pulse Generators.

Circ Arrhythm Electrophysiol

August 2023

Cardiovascular Department, Sanatorio Italiano, Asunción, Paraguay (A.E.).

Background: This study assessed safety and feasibility of a novel extravascular implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) lead when inserted anteriorly through a rib space and connected to various commercially available ICD pulse generators (PGs) placed in either a left mid-axillary or left pectoral pocket. Currently available or investigational, extravascular-ICDs include a subcutaneous or subxiphoid lead connected to customized extravascular-ICD PGs.

Methods: This novel extravascular-ICD (AtaCor Medical Inc, San Clemente, CA) employs a unique intercostal implant technique and is designed to function with commercial DF-4 ICD PGs.
