This study investigated the effect of a modified 13X zeolite to Pd/zeolite catalyst on the oxidation of hydrogen to ensure safety from hydrogen leakage. The catalytic activity of Pd/zeolite catalysts was significantly affected by acid treatment of 13X zeolite support and various calcination temperatures (300 °C, 400 °C, 500 °C, 600 °C) of the Pd/zeolite catalyst. To understand the correlation between the activity and physical properties of the catalysts, activity test, XRD, BET, TEM, TPR, and TPO were performed; Pd/13X (400) was shown to have a high catalytic activity, which depended on the dispersion and particle size of palladium. Also, a strong PdH on the catalyst surface was formed, and a high catalytic activity at a low hydrogen concentration was obtained.

The direct synthesis of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) from CO and methanol over ceria-based catalysts, in the presence of a dehydrating agent shifting the thermodynamical equilibrium of the reaction, has received significant interest recently. In this work, several dehydrating agents, such as molecular sieves, 2,2-dimethoxypropane (DMP), dimethoxymethane (DMM) and 1,1,1-trimethoxymethane (TMM), are combined with commercial ceria to compare their influence on the DMC yield obtained under the same set of operating conditions. TMM is found to be the most efficient; however, its conversion is not complete even after 48 h of reaction.

VO-WO/TiO (VWTi) catalyst has long been utilized in fixed source flue gases to purify harmful NO gas. However, VWTi is classified as a hazardous material because of its harm to human health and environment. To address this issue, a low-cost green Cu-based zeolite catalyst (Cu@13X) with a wide temperature range was synthesized using an in-situ hydrothermal method.

In aquatic environments, the presence of iodine species, including radioactive isotopes like I and I, poses significant environmental and health concerns. Iodine can enter water resources from various sources, including nuclear accidents, medical procedures, and natural occurrences. To address this issue, the use of natural occurring nanoporous minerals, such as zeolitic materials, for iodine removal will be explored.

Five phyllosilicates (kaolinite, montmorillonite, saponite, sepiolite and palygorskite) have been selected as starting materials for the synthesis of zeolites. Among them, kaolinite and montmorillonite display the lowest Si/Al molar ratio leading to aluminosilicates with high crystallinity. Thus, the hydrothermal treatment under basic conditions forms 4A zeolite when kaolinite is used as starting material while 13X zeolite is obtained when montmorillonite is used as starting material.
