While self-assembled material based inverted perovskite solar cells have surpassed power conversion efficiencies of 26%, enhancing their performance in large-area configurations remains a significant challenge. In this work, we report a self-assembled material based hole-selective layer 4-(7H-dibenzo[c,g]carbazol-7-yl)phenyl)phosphonic acid, with a π-expanded conjugation. The enhanced intermolecular π-π interactions facilitate the self-assembly of 4-(7H-dibenzo[c,g]carbazol-7-yl)phenyl)phosphonic acid molecules to form an ordered bilayer with a hydrophilic surface, which passivates the buried perovskite interface defect and enables high-quality and large-area perovskite preparation, while simultaneously enhancing interfacial charge extraction and transport.

We introduce a family of membrane-targeted azobenzenes (MTs) with a push-pull character as a new tool for cell stimulation. These molecules are water soluble and spontaneously partition in the cell membrane. Upon light irradiation, they isomerize from trans to cis, changing the local charge distribution and thus stimulating the cell response.

Cholesterol dysregulation, disorder of neuronal membrane lipid packing, and lipid rafts lead to the synthesis and accumulation of toxic amyloid-β (Aβ), contributing to the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Our study shows that near-infrared (NIR) transcranial photobiomodulation therapy (tPBMT) can reduce Aβ load and restore the properties of neuronal plasma membrane, including Aβ production, bilayer order, rafts, lipid content, and Ca channels during AD. Mice in the experiments were exposed to 808-nm LED for 1 h daily over 3 months.

Monte Carlo (MC) simulations can adequately describe photon migration in layered media; however, storing and querying the resulting dataset may be computationally prohibitive when detailed path data are needed for each photon trajectory. A heuristic approach that significantly reduces the stored information to the average path length traveled by the photons detected in each layer is proposed. Its accuracy is evaluated by comparing it with the exact time point spread function () for a bilayered medium.

An objective soft x-ray flat-field spectrograph employing a laminar-type bilayer coated, varied-line-spacing, spherical grating was designed to improve the detection limit and sensitivity of soft x-ray flat-field spectrographs in a region of 250-550 eV. As a design criterion, spectral flux, SF, [Hatano et al., Appl.
