Introduction: The development of stress-related psychopathologies, often associated with socio-emotional dysfunctions, is crucially determined by genetic and environmental factors, which shape the individual vulnerability or resilience to stress. Especially early adolescence is considered a vulnerable time for the development of psychopathologies. Various mouse strains are known to age-dependently differ in social, emotional, and endocrine stress responses based on genetic and epigenetic differences.

Risk of Cardiovascular Disease Hospitalization After Common Psychiatric Disorders: Analyses of Disease Susceptibility and Progression Trajectory in the UK Biobank.

Phenomics

Mental Health Center and West China Biomedical Big Data Center, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Guo Xue Lane 37, Chengdu, 610000 China.

Unlabelled: Whether associations between psychiatric disorders and hospitalization for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) can be modified by disease susceptibility and the temporal pattern of these associated CVDs remain unknown. In our study, we conducted a matched cohort study of the UK Biobank including 44,430 patients with common psychiatric disorders (anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders) between 1997 and 2019, together with 222,150 sex-, Townsend deprivation index-, and birth year- individually matched unexposed individuals. The hazard ratios (HRs) for CVD hospitalization associated with a prior psychiatric disorder were derived from Cox models, adjusted for multiple confounders.

Stress induces aversive memory overgeneralization, a hallmark of many psychiatric disorders. Memories are encoded by a sparse ensemble of neurons active during an event (an engram ensemble). We examined the molecular and circuit processes mediating stress-induced threat memory overgeneralization in mice.

Mechanistic role of mesencephalic astrocyte-derived neurotrophic factor in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury.

Mesencephalic astrocyte-derived neurotrophic factor (MANF) is a protein crucial for cellular stress response and survival, particularly in the nervous and cardiovascular systems. Unlike traditional neurotrophic factors, MANF primarily regulates endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and protects cells by reducing ER stress-induced apoptosis. MANF operates both inside and outside cells, influencing key pathways like JAK/STAT and NF-κB to enhance cell survival during stress.
