Nanoemulsion is a new vehicle for food fortification. In this study, a simple and reliable method for the simultaneous analysis of vitamins D, D, K, and K in vitamin-fortified nanoemulsions was developed using QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe) extraction and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-atmospheric-pressure chemical ionization tandem mass spectrometry techniques. Response surface methodology was employed to optimize the extraction parameters. The method was validated for the vitamins in terms of LOD (0.03-0.25 μg/L), LOQ (0.10-0.77 μg/L), intra-day (≤4.50%), inter-day precisions (≤6.43%), and accuracy (98.5%-108.0%). The recoveries of the vitamin-fortified nanoemulsion and yogurt were in the ranges of 104.0%-109.2% and 73.3%-85.2%, respectively. The solvent consumption and analysis time were reduced by 5.6 and 3.3 folds, respectively, rendering it superior to the traditional extraction methods established by the Association of Official Analytical Chemists and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) and nociceptin receptor (NOP) have been implicated in the pathology of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) mediating pain and alleviating inflammation. In this study we searched for the possible activation of ECS and NOP system and the correlation between CB1, CB2 and NOP receptors in IBD patients. Patients diagnosed with IBDs who underwent colonic surgical resection or biopsy at colonoscopy and control group (patients without diagnosis of IBD, which colonoscopy for the different medical indications) were recruited into the study.

As the most common endocrine cancer, thyroid cancer (TC) has sharply increased globally over the past three decades. The growing incidence of TC might be counted by genetics, radiation, iodine, autoimmune disease, and exposure to environmental endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs). Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), being typical EDCs, have been widely utilized in plastics, electronics, furniture, and textiles as flame retardants since the 1980s, and research has indicated a significant correlation between their exposure and the risk of TC.

Patulin, a toxic mycotoxin, can contaminate apple-derived products. The FDA has established an action level of 50 ppb (ng/g) for patulin in apple juice and apple juice products. To effectively monitor this mycotoxin, there is a need for adequate analytical methods that can reliably and efficiently determine patulin levels.

Objective: Smoking has been suggested as a modifiable and cardiovascular risk factor for chronic kidney disease (CKD). Although long-term smoking has been associated with CKD, the potential relationship between its metabolite hydroxycotinine and CKD has not been clarified.
Methods: A total of 8,544 participants aged 20 years and above from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2017 - March 2020 were enrolled in our study.

N-nitrosamine pollutants are probable carcinogens. Regulatory agencies declared their presence in the drugs unsafe for human consumption and demanded their recall. Using ultra-performance liquid chromatography-atmospheric pressure chemical ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-APCI-MS/MS) in tablet dosage form based on International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) tripartite guideline criteria, we aim to develop and test a new approach for identifying and validating nitrosamine-contaminants, N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) and N-nitrosodiethylamine (NDEA) in irbesartan, olmesartan and metformin.
