Aspergillus spp. is the fungus most frequently producing ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), constituting 8% of them. This risk is significantly increased in onco-hematological patients: solid organ transplant recipients, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), corticotherapy, cirrhosis, solid cancer, or viral pneumonias. The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Mycoses (EORT/MSG criteria) developed for onco-hematological patients with angioinvasive forms of aspergillosis have important limitations for broncho-pulmonary forms, such as aspergillosis cases in the ICU. In recent years, new diagnostic criteria were developed to have a greater role in broncho-alveolar lavage, especially GM and lateral flow assay (LFA). Voriconazole and isavuconazole are the first treatment option. However, drug-drug interaction, level requirements, toxicity, and QT-interval modification are limitations that may favor isavuconazole or liposomal amphotercin B in the ICU.

Objective: To analyze the influence of proxemic factors on communication and care provided by nursing professionals during transfusion in hemotherapy.
Method: A descriptive, exploratory and qualitative study with 25 nursing professionals from a hospital specializing in onco-hematological diseases in Rio de Janeiro, based on a systematized script, individual records of proxemic factors described by Edward Hall and recorded situational interviews. The analysis considered data thematic content and used the SketchUp 3D Modeling Software Review program to visually demonstrate the behavioral mapping of the interaction of nursing professionals with patients during care.

Purpose: Onco-hematological (OH) patients face significant cardiovascular risks due to malignancy and drug toxicity. Data are limited on the characteristics and outcomes of OH patients with cardiogenic shock (CS) in intensive care units (ICUs).
Methods: This multicenter retrospective study included 214 OH patients with CS across 22 ICUs (2010-2021).

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the microbiological and clinical heterogeneity of community-onset bloodstream infections (BSIs) and identify features to support targeted empirical antibiotic therapy in the Emergency Department (ED).
Methods: Clinical and microbiological data from 992 BSI cases (1,135 isolates) diagnosed within 24 hours of ED admission at IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital, Milan, Italy (January 2015-June 2022), were analyzed. Drug resistance was interpreted using EUCAST-2023.

Bloodstream infections (BSIs) are a critical concern in pediatric onco-hematological patients undergoing chemotherapy or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), leading to a major impact on morbidity, long-term hospitalization, and mortality. We retrospectively analyzed 202 BSIs in 145 patients, consisting of 128 with hematological malignancies, one with a solid tumor, and 16 with non-malignant hematological diseases. We collected data on patient demographics, clinical characteristics, pathogen distribution, and antimicrobial pathogen susceptibility.

Introduction: Physical activity is associated with improved functionality, independence and quality of life in cancer patients undergoing active treatment. Exercises can be prescribed to improve patient outcomes.
Objective: Evaluate the effects of applied exercise protocols on functional capacity, quality of life, fatigue and muscle strength in hospitalized onco-hematological patients compared to conventional treatment.
