HSV-1 is associated with oral lesions. Recently, anti-herpetic activity of different plant species has been investigated. In this study, the effects of Artemisia aucheri aqueous extract on the HSV-1 virus-infected Vero cells were assessed. The highest cell viability occurred in plant aqueous extracts was with a concentration of 75 μg/mL, 1-2 h before viral infection. The IC50 of the aqueous extract of 24.7 μg/ml was calculated. Most percentage of infected cell inhibition (89.6%) was with the chloroform fraction in concentration of 75 μg/ml, and the least percentage of infected cell inhibition (21.7%) was in concentration of 12.5 μg/ml with the ethyl acetate fraction in comparison with untreated control. Moreover, Q-PCR results revealed that the expression of genes UL46 and US6 were significantly reduced in the presence of different treatments utilized in the experiment. In conclusion, the present study proposes that aqueous extracts of medicinal plant have anti-viral property and may be considered as a remedy for HSV-1 treatment.

Nanomedical applications have increased significantly. This work aimed to fabricate and characterize cobalt oxide nanoparticles (CoOnps) synthesized biologically via aqueous Alhagi maurorum extract and evaluate their cytotoxic and antimicrobial impacts. Green-synthesized CoOnps were prepared and analyzed using UV-Vis spectrophotometer UV-vis, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy TEM, Energy dispersive X-ray analysis EDAX, Fourier transform infrared, FTIR, and X-ray diffraction (XRD).

The release of microcystin (MCs) in aquatic ecosystems poses a substantial risk to the safety of irrigation and drinking water. In view of the challenges associated with monitoring MCs in water bodies, given their low concentration levels (μg/L to ng/L) and the presence of diverse matrix interferences, there is an urgent need to develop an efficient, cost-effective and selective enrichment technique for MCs prior to its quantification. In this work, a gold nanoparticles (AuNPs)-functionalized zwitterionic polymer monolith was described and further applied for the affinity enrichment of MCs.

Scabiosa artropurperea, a member of the Dipsacaceae family and Scabiosa genus, is renowned for its medicinal properties. In the present study, we investigated the impact of Scabiosa artropurperea aqueous extract (AES) on the in vivo reproductive functions in Queue Fine de l'Ouest ewes, and on in vitro ovine granulosa cells. Ewes were synchronized for 14 days with intra-vagina progesterone (P4) devices (FGA, 20 mg) and divided into four groups receiving daily oral doses of 0, 1, 2, and 4 mg of AES/kg Live Body Weight (LBW), respectively.
