Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the masking of simulated silver diamine fluoride (SDF) carious tooth discoloration using tooth-colored restorative materials.

Methods: Eighty disc specimens (N equals 10 disc specimens per group) were prepared using pink opaquer (PO), pink opaquer with composite resin (DUAL), opaque-shade composite resin (OSC), and resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI) of one-mm and two-mm thicknesses. Three backgrounds were prepared: white, dark dentin shade (C4D), and black tile. Vita Easyshade® spectrophotometer was used to determine the color values of each disc specimen against each background. Color difference (E) and translucency parameter (TP) were analyzed.

Results: There was a significant difference in material masking black background (one-way analysis of variance; P<0.001) in the following order: PO (TP 5.47) and DUAL (TP 3.89) are similar in masking ability but much higher than RMGI (TP 11.03) and OSC (TP 17.81). For masking the dark background, the result was similar. The material thickness makes a significant difference in color masking, with two mm superior to one mm for all four tooth-colored materials (multivariate analysis of variance; P<0.001). Both PO and DUAL two mm were clinically acceptable in masking dark and black backgrounds (E less than 2.7).

Conclusion: Pink opaquer and pink opaquer with composite resin restorative materials were found to be the best masking materials for simulated silver diamine fluoride-arrested carious lesions.

The development of composite resins has led to novel materials aimed at improving restoration longevity. This study evaluates the surface roughness of four tooth-colored restorative materials after thermal aging. Eighty Class V preparations were restored with Admira Fusion, Beautifil II, Equia Forte HT, and Filtek.

Aim: The present study aims to evaluate the color stability of different masking modalities of silver diamine fluoride (SDF) on extracted carious teeth after thermal aging.

Methods And Results: One hundred and eight recently extracted carious permanent teeth were used. All sample teeth had SDF applied over the carious lesion.

Background And Aim: Achieving the aesthetic standards in tooth-colored restorative materials requires close attention to their color, translucency, and resistance to discoloration. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of sintering temperature on color stability and translucency in zirconia systems with low, high, and ultra-high translucencies.

Methods: This experimental study was conducted on 60 zirconia disks with low, high and ultra-high translucencies (n = 20 per group), each group divided into subgroups to be sintered at either 1450°C or 1550°C (n = 10 per subgroup).

Purpose: This study investigated the fracture resistance and failure modes of custom-fabricated post- and core dental restorations using various CAD/CAM materials.

Materials And Methods: Seventy-five mandibular second premolars were allocated to five groups (n = 15) and prepared for standardized post and core restorations. The groups included a control group comprising cast metal and four CAD/CAM materials: Vita Enamic, Shofu HC, Trilor, and PEKK.

Recently, interest in tooth-colored fluoride-releasing dental materials has increased. Although physical and mechanical properties such as surface hardness, elastic modulus and surface roughness of the restorative materials have been investigated, the effect of different immersion media on these properties is still controversial. The aim of this study was to evaluate the nanohardness, elastic modulus and surface roughness of the fluoride release of tooth-colored restorative materials after immersion in acidic beverages.
