The one-step synthesis of dimethyl ether over mechanical mixtures of Cu/ZnO/AlO (CZA) and γ-AlO was studied in a wide range of process conditions. Experiments were performed at an industrially relevant pressure of 50 bar varying the carbon oxide ratio in the feed (CO in CO from 20 to 80%), temperature (503-533 K), space-time (240-400 kg s m ), and the CZA-to-γ-AlO weight ratio (from 1 to 5). Factors favoring the DME production in the investigated range of conditions are an elevated temperature, a low CO content in the feed, and a CZA-to-γ-AlO weight ratio of 2. A lumped kinetic model was parameterized to fit the experimental data, resulting in one of the predictive models with the broadest range of validity in the open literature for the CZA/γ-AlO system.

This study developed antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) from quinoa with high antibacterial activity and stability by mixed-bacteria fermentation. Furthermore, among 9 peptide fractions purified by membrane separation and chromatography, F1 could effectively inhibit the growth and propagation of bacterial microorganisms in apple juice. Subsequently, F1 identified LC-MS/MS as 95 peptides, molecular weights 494.

Background: Most infants born to women living with HIV (WLH) are HIV-exposed but uninfected exposed infants have poorer growth than HIV-unexposed uninfected children. Few large studies have compared children who are exposed (CHEU) and unexposed (CHUU) in the era of dolutegravir (DTG)-based antiretroviral treatment (ART).
Setting: Longitudinal study of mother-infant CHEU and CHUU pairs in Nairobi and Western Kenya.

Objective: The short-term efficacy of red blood cell (RBC) transfusion among general traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients is unclear.
Methods: We used the MIMIC database to compare the efficacy of liberal (10 g/dL) versus conservative (7 g/dL) transfusion strategy in TBI patients. The outcomes were neurological progression (decrease of Glasgow coma scale (GCS) of at least 2 points) and death within 28 days of ICU admission.

Objective: The extent of resection (EOR) is an important prognostic factor for both low- and high-grade gliomas. Intraoperative MRI (iMRI) has been used to increase the EOR in glioma surgery. While a recent study reported differences between iMRI and early postoperative MRI (epMRI), their specific relationship to postoperative clinical symptoms remains unclear.

Objective: The objective of this study was to compare a multiple pelvic screw fixation strategy (dual bilateral 4 pelvic screw fixation [4PvS]) with the use of single bilateral 2 pelvic screw fixation (2PvS), with the aim of addressing lumbosacral junction stability.
Methods: This analysis is a single-center, retrospective review of ASD patients treated between 2015 and 2021. All patients had a minimum 2-year follow-up and spinal fusion to the sacrum without sacroiliac fusion and met at least one radiographic and procedural criterion: pelvic incidence-lumbar lordosis ≥ 20°, T1 pelvic angle ≥ 20°, sagittal vertical axis ≥ 7.
