Three new phenolic metabolites, daldispols A-C (1-3), two new chromone derivatives, (5,7)-5,7-dihydroxy-2-methyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4-chromen-4-one (9) and (5,7)-5,7-dihydroxy-2-propyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4-chromen-4-one (10), together with five known phenolic compounds (4-8) and two known chromone compounds (11 and 12) were isolated from the endolichenic fungus sp. CPCC 400770. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods, electronic circular dichroism (ECD), and comparison with reported data. Compounds 1, 3, 4, 9, and 11 exhibited significant anti-influenza A virus (IAV) activities with IC values of 12.7, 6.4, 12.5, 16.1, and 9.0 μM, respectively, and compound 8 displayed significant anti-ZIKV activity with inhibitory ratio of 42.7% at 10 μM. The results demonstrated that the fungus sp. CPCC 400770 might be a rich source for discovering anti-IAV secondary metabolites as potential novel leading compounds.

Alzheimer's disease is one of the most complex neurological disorders and millions of people are suffering from this disease all over the world. In the past two decades acetylcholinesterase (AChE) has been the most explored pathological hallmark. The generation of potent AChE inhibitors has grown as a rapid pathological tool for the efficacious treatment of the disease.

Two new nor-rubrofusarin derivatives (trichsimins A and B, 1 and 2) and one new chromone derivative (trichsimin C, 5) were isolated from the deep-sea-derived Trichoderma simmonsii ZEN3 along with 20 known compounds (3, 4, and 6-23). The structures of the new compounds were established by detailed analyses of the NMR, HRESIMS, and ORD data. Nafuredin (14) exhibited potent inhibition against RSL3 induced ferroptosis with the EC50 value of 5.

The global burden of COVID-19 continues to rise, and despite significant progress in vaccine development, there remains a critical need for effective treatments for the severe inflammation and acute lung injury associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection. In this study, we explored the antiviral properties of a plant-derived complex consisting of flavonol and hydroxyorganic acid compounds. Our research focused on the ability of the flavonol and hydroxyorganic acid complex to suppress the activity of several key proteins involved in the replication and maturation of SARS-CoV-2.

Background/objectives: Inflammation and oxidative stress are the main pathogenetic pathways involved in the development of several chronic degenerative diseases. Our study is aimed at assessing the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity of hydroalcoholic extracts obtained from wheat and its derivatives.
Methods: The content of total phenolic and total flavonoid compounds and antioxidant activity were carried out by ABTS and DPPH assays.

Biological aging is a substantial change that leads to different diseases, including osteoporosis (OP), a condition involved in loss of bone density, deterioration of bone structure, and increased fracture risk. In old people, there is a natural decline in bone mineral density (BMD), exacerbated by hormonal changes, particularly during menopause, and it continues in the early postmenopausal years. During this transition time, hormonal alterations are linked to elevated oxidative stress (OS) and decreased antioxidant defenses, leading to a significant increase in OP.
