Ginger ( Roscoe) has been used as a spice and as a traditional remedy since ancient times, especially in traditional Chinese medicine. It has been applied as a treatment for many diseases either alone or in combination with other remedies. Many studies were conducted on ginger and its constituents and a wide array of bioactivities were reported, , antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiemetic, and anticancer activity. Most of these had been correlated to gingerols and shogaols, the most abundant secondary metabolites in ginger. This inspired several research groups to explore the biomedical value of the chemical space around these compounds, and many of their synthetic or semi-synthetic analogues have been prepared and studied for various bioactivities. Thanks to this, many valuable structure activity relationships have been revealed for such compounds. Herein, we provide a brief summary on the synthetic derivatization efforts that had so far been implemented on 6-gingerol, the main constituent of fresh ginger. This review covers 160 natural, semisynthetic, or synthetic 6-gingerol derivatives and their reported bioactivities.

Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) is a prevalent technique in materials characterization. While the analysis of PXRD often requires extensive human manual intervention, and most automated method only achieved at coarse-grained level. The more difficult and important task of fine-grained crystal structure prediction from PXRD remains unaddressed.

We have adopted the classification Read-Across Structure-Activity Relationship (c-RASAR) approach in the present study for machine-learning (ML)-based model development from a recently reported curated dataset of nephrotoxicity potential of orally active drugs. We initially developed ML models using nine different algorithms separately on topological descriptors (referred to as simply "descriptors" in the subsequent sections of the manuscript) and MACCS fingerprints (referred to as "fingerprints" in the subsequent sections of the manuscript), thus generating 18 different ML QSAR models. Using the chemical spaces defined by the modeling descriptors and fingerprints, the similarity and error-based RASAR descriptors were computed, and the most discriminating RASAR descriptors were used to develop another set of 18 different ML c-RASAR models.

Estimating spatiotemporal maps of greenhouse gases (GHGs) is important for understanding climate change and developing mitigation strategies. However, current methods face challenges, including the coarse resolution of numerical models, and gaps in satellite data, making it essential to improve the spatiotemporal estimation of GHGs. This study aims to develop an advanced technique to produce high-fidelity (1 km) maps of CO and CH over the Arabian Peninsula, a highly vulnerable region to climate change.

Molecularly imprinted nanocomposite membranes (MINMs) have shown great superiority in selective separation of acteoside (ACT) from phenylethanoid glycosides in Cistanche tubulosa. Herein, ACT-based MINMs (A-MINMs) with coral reef-like imprinted structure were proposed and developed for specifically separating ACT molecules. The nanospheres with hydrophilic multicores (NHMs) were introduced into polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) powders to obtain NHMs@PVDF membranes by a phase inversion method.

Membrane-assisted direct seawater splitting (DSS) technologies are actively studied as a promising route to produce green hydrogen (H2), whereas the indispensable use of supporting electrolytes that help to extract water and provide electrochemically-accelerated reaction media results in a severe energy penalty, consuming up to 12.5% of energy input when using a typical KOH electrolyte. We bypass this issue by designing a zero-gap electrolyzer configuration based on the integration of cation exchange membrane and bipolar membrane assemblies, which protects stable DSS operation against the precipitates and corrosion in the absence of additional supporting electrolytes.
