Introduction: Peritoneal dialysis (PD) remains underutilised in the West. The proportion of patients in the UK starting renal replacement therapy (RRT) with PD fell from 7.2% in 2011 to 6.0% in 2016. At our centre, 8.4% of dialysis patients received PD in April 2014. Evidence suggests that home dialysis improves patient clinical outcomes; therefore, a target was agreed to achieve 25% of dialysis patients receiving PD by 2018.
Methods: A rapid improvement process was introduced, as a quality improvement tool, to increase and sustain the PD programme. With multidisciplinary team support for PD growth, a nephrologist was trained to insert PD catheters. Nurses were trained to provide patients with balanced pre-dialysis information and discuss alternative dialysis modalities with haemodialysis (HD) patients. The "Acceptance, Choice and Empowerment" project raised awareness of home therapy choices, using a peer educator model specifically for ethnic minority patients. Lean methodologies were used to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Results: PD uptake increased from 37 to 84 patients, giving a PD penetration increase from 8.4% to 19.1% between April 2014 and March 2018. Catheter insertions increased from 94 at the end of QI Period 1 to 185 at the end of QI Period 2, representing a 97% increase, with the medical/surgical split remaining stable. Peritonitis rates remained stable, and PD drop off to HD reduced from 52% to 41% during the same period.
Conclusions: By implementing a rapid improvement process and embedding a quality improvement programme, the number of incidents and prevalent PD patients increased and was sustained.

Background: Intravascular imaging (IVI) is widely recognized to improve outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). However, IVI is underutilized and is not yet established as a performance measure for quality PCI.
Methods: We examined temporal trends of IVI use for all PCIs performed at Veterans Affairs hospitals in the United States from 2010 to 2022 using retrospective observational cohorts.
Despite an increasing number of studies examining the effect of Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography/ Computed Tomography (SPECT/CT) on improvement of diagnosis of aseptic loosening, there is still a great deal of uncertainty regarding its applicability in diagnostic algorithm. Therefore, in this meta-analysis, we aimed to investigate the diagnostic performance of SPECT/CT for identification of aseptic loosening in patients with persistent pain following the total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and total hip arthroplasty (THA). Electronic databases including Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane library, and Embase were systematically searched for identifying relevant published studies from their inception to April 2023.

Recent ageing research has projected the lifespan and proportion of postmenopausal women living in low- and middle-income countries to substantially increase over the years, especially on the African continent. An important subgroup within the African postmenopausal population is those with female genital circumcision/mutilation/cutting (FGC). Practised across 31 African nations, FGC holds cultural significance as it is deemed essential to marriage and successful womanhood.

Maize () is India's third-largest grain crop, serving as a primary food source for at least 30% of the population and sustaining 900 million impoverished people globally. The growing human population has led to an increasing demand for maize grains. However, maize cultivation faces significant challenges due to a variety of environmental factors, including both biotic and abiotic stresses.
