Isolated small bowel trauma after blunt abdominal trauma is rare and diagnosis may be difficult. The method used in the diagnostic is computed tomography so there is no consensus on this issue. Difficulty in diagnosis and delay in treatment can cause increased morbidity and mortality. We present the diagnosis and treatment modalities of interesting three cases, admitted to the Emergency Service with the complaint of blunt abdominal trauma and were found to have isolated small bowel perforations. Isolated small bowel perforation is secondly seen in cases with blunt abdominal trauma. To this end, a careful examination and the way of the trauma that occurs are crucial for diagnosis. Of note, we postulate that a physician should remain vigilant whether taking the decision of immediate operation to be able to attenuate the morbidity and mortality for a blunt trauma phenomenon. KEY WORDS: Trauma, Blunt trauma; Small bowel perforation; Emergency.

Exposure to vanadium (V) occurs through the ingestion of contaminated water, polluted soil, V-containing foods and medications, and the toxicity and absorption during the small intestine phase after oral ingestion play crucial roles in the ultimate health hazards posed by V. In this study, the human colon adenocarcinoma (Caco-2) cells were selected as an intestinal absorption model to investigate the uptake and cytotoxicity of vanadyl sulfate (VOSO) and sodium orthovanadate (NaVO). Our results confirmed the cytotoxic effects of V(IV) and V(V) and revealed a greater toxicity of V(IV) than V(V) towards Caco-2 cells.

Interstitial cells of Cajal in the plane of the myenteric plexus (ICC-MY) serve as electrical pacemakers in the stomach and small intestine. A similar population of cells is found in the colon, but these cells do not appear to generate regular slow wave potentials, as characteristic in more proximal gut regions. Ca handling mechanisms in ICC-MY of the mouse proximal colon were studied using confocal imaging of muscles from animals expressing GCaMP6f exclusively in ICC.

Background: Small bowel adenocarcinoma (SBA) is a rare malignancy with few established chemotherapy options and a dismal prognosis. We investigated the expression of claudin 18.2, nectin-4, human epidermal growth factor receptor 3 (HER3), and programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) in SBA to identify potential antibody drug targets and analyzed associated clinicopathological features and prognosis.

School of Pharmacy, Fudan University, 826 Zhangheng Road, Shanghai, 201203, P.R. China.

Hawthorn leave flavonoids (HLF) are widely used as an herb or dietary supplements for cardio-cerebrovascular diseases. However, its gastrointestinal absorption behavior and mechanism have not been disclosed. In this study, gastrointestinal absorption and its regulation of 4''-O-glucosylvitexin (GLV), 2''-O-rhamnosylvitexin (RHV), vitexin (VIT), rutin (RUT) and hyperoside (HP) in HLF were investigated using in vitro, in situ and in vivo models.

Lymphoma is the most common neoplasia in the intestine of cats. According to ACVIM consensus statement, low-grade intestinal T-cell lymphoma (LGITCL) represents a monomorphic infiltration of the lamina propria or epithelium or both of cats with small, mature, neoplastic (clonal) T lymphocytes. Despite the importance as contributing factors of inheritance and environment in the pathogenesis of LGITCL, the chronic inflammatory status plays a fundamental role.
