Compactness, robustness and autonomy of optical frequency references are prerequisites for reliable operation in mobile systems, on ground as well as in space. We present a standalone plug and play optical frequency reference device based on frequency modulation spectroscopy of the D2-transition in rubidium at 780 nm. After a single button press the hand-sized laser module, based on the micro-integrated laser-optical bench described in [J. Opt. Soc. Am. B38, 1885 (2021)10.1364/JOSAB.420875], works fully autonomous and generates 6 mW of frequency stabilized light with a relative frequency instability of 1.4×10 at 1 s and below 10 at 10 s averaging time. We describe the design of the device, investigate the thermal characteristics affecting the output frequency and demonstrate short-term frequency stability improvement by a Bayesian optimizer varying the modulation parameters.

Background: Adalimumab is an effective treatment for juvenile idiopathic arthritis-associated uveitis. Data are scarce on the effects of discontinuing adalimumab after control of the disease had been reached. We aimed to assess efficacy and safety of discontinuing treatment in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis-associated uveitis.

Brain changes in sleep-related hypermotor epilepsy observed from wakefulness and N2 sleep: A matched case-control study.

Clin Neurophysiol

January 2025

Department of Neurology, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu 610041, Sichuan, China. Electronic address:

Objective: Sleep-related hypermotor epilepsy (SHE) is a relatively uncommon epilepsy syndrome, characterized by seizures closely related to the sleep cycle. This study aims to explore interictal electroencephalographic (EEG) characteristics in SHE.

Methods: We compared EEG data from 20 patients with SHE, 20 patients with focal epilepsy (FE), and 14 healthy controls, carefully matched for age, sex, education level, epilepsy duration, and drug-resistant epilepsy.

Background: Strabismus is a potential cause of ocular morbidity.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the frequency, types of manifest strabismus and co-morbidities among patients attending a referral paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus clinic in Calabar, Nigeria.

Methods: A retrospective review of case-notes of patients attending the paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus clinic from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2019 was done.

Objective: Whereas a few studies have evaluated vestibular involvement in Fabry disease (FD), the relationship between vestibular/oculomotor abnormalities and disease-specific biomarkers remain unclear. Therefore, we seek to evaluate these quantitatively and analyze their relationship with disease phenotype and biomarkers in FD.

Methods: This cohort study enrolled 37 Chinese FD patients registered in our center.

The relationship between retinal fundus hemorrhage and the severity of coronary artery lesions remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the incidence of fundus hemorrhage in patients at high risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) and to examine its correlation with the SYNTAX score, a tool used to assess the complexity of coronary artery disease. This retrospective study consecutively enrolled patients undergoing coronary angiography (CAG) at Beijing Anzhen Hospital Hospital from June 2019 to January 2020.
