For positioning Talbot encoder and Talbot lithography, etc., properties manipulation of Talbot imaging is highly expected. In this work, an investigation on the distance and depth modulation of Talbot imaging, which employs a specially designed grating structure, is presented. Compared with the current grating structure, the proposed grating structure is characterized by having the phase layers with uneven thicknesses. Such a specific structural design can cause the offset of Talbot image from its nominal position, which in turn generates the spatial distance modulation of self-imaging and imaging depth expansion. Theoretical analysis is performed to explain its operating principle, and simulations and experiments are carried out to demonstrate its effectiveness.

Colloidal crystals of micrometer-sized colloids create prismatic structural colors through the grating diffraction of visible light. Here, we develop design rules to engineer such structural color by specifically accounting for the effect of crystal defects. The local quality and grain size of the colloidal structure are varied by performing self-assembly in the presence of a direct current (DC) electric field.

Grating under auto-collimation configuration with polarization-independent high diffraction efficiency plays an important role in the displacement measurement system, spectral beam combining system and so on. In this paper, we proposed, for the first time, a reflective two-dimensional metal-dielectric grating of which the (-1, -1) order beam is diffracted back along the input light direction, when the incident azimuth angle is 45°. With optimized structure, the (-1, -1) order diffraction efficiencies of transverse electric polarization (TE) and transverse magnetic polarization (TM) are 95.

Significant photoinduced voltages observed in permalloy structures consist of two contributions with different origins, which depend on illumination conditions, structure geometry and magnetic field in distinct ways. The first component is the plasmon drag effect voltage closely associated with plasmon propagation. The second contribution is magnetically dependent and can be related to photoinduced gradients in the sample temperature and spin polarization.

Phase-contrast micro-tomography ([Formula: see text]CT) with synchrotron radiation can aid in the differentiation of subtle density variations in weakly absorbing soft tissue specimens. Modulation-based imaging (MBI) extracts phase information from the distortion of reference patterns, generated by periodic or randomly structured wavefront markers (e.g.

It features gradually changing surface resistance ( ), to expand the absorption bandwidth while maintaining high SE. Also, a folded square ring metasurface was designed to effectively suppress surface wave grating lobes, as well as to reduce the unit size of the metasurface and thus the absorber.
